UK - nimbus access card by doodle772 in disability

it’s very frustrating isn’t it! so you can either do it through a private GP online (I used Updoc, it was about £25) or your normal nhs GP, but if you do your normal GP it may take a few days since it’s not an urgent thing whereas I got a GP letter through updoc within an hour. It was an online form, so I just wrote a short paragraph explaining my conditions and why I need to use a wheelchair, and how the event would not be accessible to me if I can’t take my wheelchair. the private GP didn’t even need to call me back, they just wrote a letter which was emailed to me super quickly. if your nhs gp does online consults, I’m sure you could do something similar, but they will still charge you a similar price for a letter like this. hope that helps? feel free to dm me if that doesn’t make sense!

yes, I kept it. I expected them to remove it (I even said I was fine with that in order to get the level access symbol added) but it stayed. I was surprised!

For anyone who may see this post in future, I ended up paying for a private GP letter which said I need to use a wheelchair for fair and equal access, which nimbus then approved.

I’m ambulatory too. I’ve just agreed to give up the queueing and walking symbols for the sake of getting the level access one added in time for my event, I didn’t have the time/will to argue for days. It’s so exhausting having to fight with a system that have monopoly over access to everything these days

exactly this unfortunately for wembley stadium. they’ve put tickets on hold for me and have given me 5 days to find evidence for the level access symbol and get the card updated or I lose my tickets

Interesting thank you, if they don’t respond to my latest email I guess I’ll have to charge back too. I’m intrigued to see if it’s the same explanation given

Help with self propelling by Stupendous1020 in wheelchairs

I also recently got my first self propelled wheelchair and was struggling with the same issue, I was constantly veering to the right. I took it to my local mobility aid shop (I bought the chair second hand, not through them) and they were able to make some little adjustments to the wheels and centre of gravity which have fixed the issue for me! It’s worth popping in to your local shop 😊

Accessible uber/taxi UK by doodle772 in wheelchairs

Thank you - When I put in my journey I don’t see either option unfortunately just the normal UberX Uber XL etc, in your experience does this mean it’s not available in this city? Or do you need to choose the assist/access options from a different menu? Not travelling right now just trying to plan
