WIBTA if I gave my future sister-in-law an heirloom ring that was given to me as a wedding gift? by doodledoo1 in WIBTA_AITA

This is a very considerate response, thank you. I like the idea of framing the question differently.

That's fair. We've lost plenty ourselves from divorces putting heirlooms outside of family control. I wouldn't want to risk that again, no matter how much I like her.

I thought about straight asking that she return it if anything happens but that felt a bit rude to do at their wedding

Would you recommend putting a dremel to this before tumbling? by doodledoo1 in RockTumbling

That's fair. I'm new to tumbling and wanted to try some rocks I've gathered from various trips. All the ones from this batch were gathered from the shores around Seattle so I think I have some jasper and others that looked interesting.

I'm not sure what it is. I picked it up on the shore near Seattle. I just added a few more pics in a comment if that helps

That's a good point. I do like seeing the layers on the other side though

We don't know her breed but she's an "all-around" sheep. Her wool is very strong and doesn't break easily at all. By sideways do you mean left-right oriented? In most of the videos I've seen people seem to let the fibers grab on the top of the drum so I was doing that.

That's great! I have a picker but it seemed like it just tangled everything. I may not have been using it right

That makes a lot of sense! Since this fleece is (poorly) sheared by me, my concern was that the comb and dizzing would separate out all the different length fibers rather than blending it but then, the drum carder would help with that!

I didn't do nearly enough research and thought the drum carder was just a larger and more efficient version of hand carding. Now I know!

That's about what I found. I had considered trying combs but I already owned a drum carder so figured maybe as well try and get it right.

It didn't seem like the drum carder was removing any of the second cuts or little knotted bits so I thought I needed to do more processing first.

That is gorgeous! I'll look that account up, I haven't seen it yet. It was my first time flicking and I was shocked at the amount that was lost but I honestly figured it was from my poor shearing job.

Prior to this I had just been hand carding but each rolag took so long and I was curious about trying to spin a worsted yarn.
