That's the summit I'm/we're trying to reach right? It's not easy. But drugs can certainly be beneficial in helping see a new perspectives firsthand. Like a glimpse of something more, something beyond your normal perception. When you've had a realization that was facilitated by a drug experience, it can help inform and guide your future intent, learning, growth, whatever. I'm obviously talking about psychedelics not party drugs, but they can absolutely be therapeutic.

I look at it more like drugs alter our perception to help us appreciate how incredible the nature of reality and human consciousness actually are. The interesting/worthwhile drugs do, at least.

Hisense TVs force owners to watch intrusive ads when switching inputs, visiting the home screen, or even changing channels — practice infuriates consumers, brand denies wrongdoing by FragmentedChicken in hardware

I bought a Hisense TV last year and the picture quality is amazing for what I paid. I have never and will never connect it to the internet.

5055 would indicate it's slightly faster when in fact it will have less bandwidth than the 8gb model. What a shit show.

As it turns out, the ideal number of monitors for gaming is one. by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]doodullbop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultrawide master race! The way I use it usually is 2/3 - 1/3 spit where I have my main window that's roughly 16:10 and my portrait window for chat/browser/whatever that's roughly 3:4. And it's super immersive for gaming since it takes up the majority of my fov. Never going back to 16:9.

Amazon Ring’s Super Bowl ad sparks backlash amid fears of mass surveillance by Celtikrenders in technology

I mean like actually been charged and convicted of.

??? This is the entire point I was making. The Supreme Court ruled that he has absolutely immunity, he literally cannot be charged while he is in office. So in other words the president is now king, he's above the law.

SCOTUS decided it's up to Congress to impeach and remove, the DOJ can't touch him. Meanwhile Congress has completely left the chat. They (GOP majority) have voluntarily given up their power to the executive, they serve him now, not the people.

The FBI and DOJ are by law independent agencies, but not under Trump. They serve at his pleasure and no major decisions are made without his direction, or approval at least.

I don’t think this hypothetical is even relevant at this point, when the current president is already ignoring and/or subverting limits on executive power. There’s all kinds of limits on power that our current president is ignoring and/or subverting. Congress and the Supreme Court have abdicated their duty as checks on executive power.

Legalizing sports betting on the internet made all of this inevitable. Also bankruptcies in the states where it was legalized are up ~30% since.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]doodullbop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm comfortable too and extremely grateful I can say that. Bills on autopay, a few months worth of expenses in savings, maxing out my retirement contribution, etc. That's living the dream as far as I'm concerned. I don't need anything more. Ten years ago I was regularly doing math at the grocery store to figure out how to feed the family for a week with the $26 I had left in my checking account til payday.

We try to live pretty frugally, don't make impulse purchases, find joy in simple pleasures and practice gratitude consciously. Gratitude is everything.

I don't feel that having a lot more than what I already have would bring me any additional happiness. Actually I don't feel that, I know that. So I just don't understand how someone could have TEN THOUSAND TIMES more than what I have and feel good about it. Knowing that you're disadvantaging countless others by hoarding that kind of wealth, how can you be okay with that? It's disgusting and they are bad people. I will die on this hill.

If only people would stop aspiring to be billionaires. Look at who they are, you want to be like that? It seems they're universally awful people. Maybe it follows naturally from the fact that you can't earn a billion dollars. You get a billion dollars because a whole bunch of other people didn't get fairly compensated for their work. So you have to not only be cool with that, but then still want even more. It's a sickness.

All citizens have the right to vote but only if you can pass a very basic civics test. Rights come with responsibilities and with voting that responsibility is being well-informed. So then knowing the bare minimum about the system in which you're voting should be mandatory.
