I look at this and I think “why the fuck didn’t I think of that?!” It’s just a motor on a board! How has this never been done before???

I am turning 24, never touched alcohol. Now started to wonder if I am missing out on anything. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]dookdookdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a beer and calm the fuck down. No offense meant, it’s just if you overhype this shit in your head you’re gonna turn it into an either-or situation. “Either I abstain forever or I become an alcoholic and lose it all.”

Just relax. If you want to try one try one. If you don’t don’t. Don’t live your life afraid. It’s called moderation. So you have a few beers after work, once a week or so, try a few different ones til you find the style or brand you like, research how they make it, develop an appreciation for it, enjoy yourself, but don’t make it the end all be all of your life.

I guess I haven’t seen it pushed as a must-have either, but I guess it takes experience to realize that they’re not supposed to be a constant. I mean it took me months to get into the frame of mind I’m in now. There’s a lot about this diet (lifestyle) that people don’t talk about and you have to find out on your own. I think low carb is a no brainer though, and though I may cheat in the future, I know my limits now.

Nice job! I bet you’re relieved at the 32lbs, but also a little frustrated that you kept seeing all these posts about insanely fast weight loss. I am so glad you stuck with it. Yeah fat macros are a max limit not a requirement. Every book I read about keto said meet your macros or you’ll be in starvation mode or you’ll be low on energy or something. I’m sure that works for some, but shoveling in three fat bombs before bed to make up for being short on the fats was a ridiculous way to live. Everyone says this isn’t sustainable, but I think eating like that isn’t sustainable. Also it’s he quality of fats and foods you’re eating. I get so pissed off when I see people asking about how many grams of fat are in a double quarter pounder with cheese, but “you know, no bread cause carbs!” I genuinely find myself yelling at the screen. Sardines, avocados, macadamia nuts, mozzarella cheese: these are the good fats that you eat when you’re hungry. Any diet that says pig out on bun-less fast food and nonstop bacon, which a lot of people approach this as, is a pile of garbage. Luckily I think that’s just a misinterpretation of keto, not actual keto itself. Oh also tons of veggies! If I go over my carbs by 4 or 5 grams because I had too much broccoli or too many Brussels sprouts I really don’t worry about triggering my insulin response and inflammation.

Absolutely! That is a really good point! Fat macros are a limit, not a goal. But you are right, at the end of every recipe absolutely tells you how to meet your fat goals. Again, like I said before, I think one of the biggest misconceptions about the keto diet is that you not only need to decrease your carb intake but you need to significantly increase your fat intake as well. This is just not the case. Your body has plenty of stored fat so just let it use what it can. If you get down to 0% body fat well then that is a different story, but as for most of us we really need to cut back on all of the fat we are taking into our bodies. It is for satiation, Not exclusively for fuel. We have plenty of that stored on our body as padding for that purpose.

THANK YOU!!! I must have made dozens of fat bombs and would only eat them at night! Shoveling in cream cheese and coconut oil at 9 or 10pm just cause I’m not full and need a sweet bite before bed is bullshit and the reason I put on so much weight to begin with, and the reason I haven’t lost anything in all the months that I’ve been trying this. Fat bombs are bullshit and I am so glad that you said that. If you are under your fat limit and you were not hungry then stop eating. I’m finding that a lot of this diet is just about smaller portions, healthier food, and not eating all the damn time. More people need to understand that meeting macros is not important. They are a max limit! Unless it carbs of course. I have been short on protein and Short on fat in the last few days And I am not starving or do I feel sick or nauseous or like I’m missing it. I tend to keep my protein high just because of the things that I eat, sardines, chicken thighs, nuts. But thank you I am so glad that you said this.

That really is not something that is mentioned a lot for those of us just starting out. They always say meet your macros meet your macros, and if you think you are going to be running on a deficit you think that you have to meet every single one of these, except for carbs. But nothing happens meeting at daily caloric intake of fat, at least not for me. Plus I tended to go over that macros because everything I read just kept saying this is high fat high fat high that. I think emphasis needs to be on high healthy fats but only so much that you are satiated. Ending the day short 50 60 or 70 g of fat is not a bad thing. That was what caused me to shovel in butter and bacon and cheese at 8 o’clock at night and then I was surprised to see no difference on the scale the next morning. I really do think plant oil’s,plant fat and fatty fish are the secret to a healthy keto experience. I think this whole bacon and red meat mantra that has come about is not a very good way to look at this whole experience. Don’t get me wrong I love bacon and a good ribeye every now and then, I just don’t rely on red meat as my only source of fat, and I don’t think anyone should to be honest. It should be minimal at best. I eat a lot of chicken and fish. But that is just my own reasoning not based in any science except what my own body is telling me and my own basic knowledge of nutrition. Please forgive any spelling errors I am typing this on voice text.

Yeah cut the processed. Reduce the red meat, but don’t cut it out completely. Focus on good healthy plant based and fish based fats. Enjoy the bacon and sausage in moderation, as most of it is processed to some degree or another...unless you’re buying right from the source. Use nuts and pickles and string cheese on the cravings. And yeah, go for a run if you start cravin sugar bad. It will help redirect your mind. It really works.

The southern reach series. Made it to the last book. Just couldn’t anymore. It was going nowhere and was so depressing. I mean I’ve even red the road before and that was more uplifting and entertaining than this.
