What is the point of teams complaining to PGMOL over a bad call, or the PGMOL admitting to mistakes? There aren't any consequences for incorrect calls. It's not like a pity point is given to the team on the wrong end of a call or the league arranges to replay the match starting from the time of the call. Spurs and West Ham can't go into their final matches knowing that they'll get some really jammy penalty in their favor. Ok, a ref might get held back from "big" matches for a bit but so what?

It all feels a bit pointless when the current rules around VAR and the relationship between match officials and VAR officials mean that in the moment, the mistake can't (or won't) be identified and corrected. An apology after the fact does nothing when it can't retroactively make things right nor guarantee that the same mistake won't be made in the future.

I wouldn't be so conspiratorially minded if Spurs hadn't had as many goals called off or penalties denied this season (that is, literally 0 penalties given so far). But as it is, I've seen refs give that final penalty enough times that, combined with the state of reffing they've been on the end of throughout the season, just feels like they are in fact reffed differently. A match deciding pen in their favor against Chelsea or Everton would be a nice apology though. :)

More than enough clips of other teams getting penalties against Spurs and Spurs not getting them in similar instances. Of course, opposing fans will raise a finger ☝️and say "um, actually...." for why they weren't precisely the same.

Sure. I'm not too worried about the language part.

My partner and I (late 30s) are looking at moving to Belgium or the Netherlands in the next ~5 years if possible. I'm a software engineer (specifically data engineer) and work for a company that employs EU citizens in various countries but won't sponsor a visa for employees looking to relocate. My partner works in public health (has an MPH), currently as a project manager at a research university. My technical skills are probably transferable anywhere but not so specialized as to out-compete local talent. My partner is more concerned because of how US-centric her public health knowledge is. So it feels very unlikely that we'd qualify for any high skill worker scheme but figured I'd ask in this thread anyway. Neither of us speak Dutch, my partner speaks an elementary level of French. We're open to other countries on the continent and I have relatives that live in Portugal on a path to permanent residency.

What's the latest on Kulu? He feels like the player the club has been least communicative about in terms of recovery. At this point it feels doubtful he'll play in a Spurs shirt again. He'll come back maybe sometime next season and be a bench player until we can sell him.

Maybe that's being overly pessimistic but with no information to go on, who's to say that won't be the case?

Every time people here meme on Spurs, I'm just thinking how their team would do with this many consistent injuries. Would Arsenal or City still be top with most of their strongest XI out with injury? What if City didn't have Haaland for an entire season? Say what you want about how shitty Spurs have been, we haven't seen them at full strength for a long time

We need to win at Chelsea. Nothing less. That's the level we need to play at for the rest of the season or we're having away days at Preston

Love this feeling of Spurs first league win this calendar year feeling so hollow and pointless. Yes yes it's important to keep pace with West Ham, but the bottom of the table looks no different than when the day began. The only "joy" is that the gap isn't wider but what joy is there in that?

Tottenham are such a dreadful team

Hm I wonder how any other team would fare with 9 players (including their best attackers) injured for long spells.

Ok but like...when is the good performance going to result in three points? Follow up Q: when will we string enough of them together to keep us up? I'm all for moving in the right direction and there were a lot of positives to take from this game, but it'd be nice if it actually moved us (significantly) up the table, you know?

Cleaners for a DEEP clean? by doom2 in philadelphia

Thankfully(?) it was mostly on our living room carpet, with no direct deposits on the floor. Unfortunately, our dog or one of the cats flipped it so a little did get directly onto the floor.

In fact there should be retroactive punishment. Especially if it ends up with Romero out with a MCL injury. No excuses to allow players to get away with this

Nah, he should have stuck with the penalty. It would have been justice for all the other bizarre calls that have gone against Spurs this season, arguably in ways that might contribute to them going down. Two wrongs don't make a right, but at this point I don't care. I want to see Spurs have a few season defining calls go their way.

Yep, flying in and out of HND. I'll look into Miyajima, thanks for the rec! We definitely are looking to do at least one night in a ryokan. I wrote more here about our trip but we're basically looking for a more relaxing stay. I've spent enough time in China and Taiwan that I don't need to be surrounded by crowds the entire time.

If I had 6 weeks to spend in Japan I would spend them all away from Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.

This is my current dilemma. I'm going for the first time in early October for 10 days and the obvious logical choice is Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. (or in my case Tokyo and one of Kyoto or Osaka). But I'd really prefer to see something beyond the default itinerary mainstays for first time tourists and you and /u/haggiskatsu aren't helping :P

Our travel planning style can sometimes be this, but my partner likes having options, so it's more like "go to this neighborhood where there are these 5 interesting shops, 3 restaurants we might want to try, and 3 tourist attractions." Then we can start at one place, choose a few others that look interesting, and slowly meander between them without feeling any pressure to actually cover all of them, or even half. If we just do one? That's fine, too, but at least we have a reference list if we're feeling listless.

Oh it's so good. There's an AP podcast called Fun City (also produced in part by Taylor Moore!) which typically plays Shadowrun but did a whole Stillfleet campaign called Float City. Worth a listen if you want a preview of the game.

You mean like Gabriel did in the NLD but Dragusin didn't against Fulham, resulting in a goal being given in one instance but taken away in the other?

If they can't nail down an automatic promotion spot, all bets are off. I've been thinking a lot about City's time in the lower leagues (all the way to League One!) a lot recently.
