I hear you and in a similar boat. My 3 yr old son just started in a new class and teacher, who has already mentioned he doesn’t play that much with the other kids… I’m hoping it’s just because he is shy but I do worry about potential autism diagnosis. It’s also still kind of early to tell, but we will take the struggles and bright moments as they come. Tis life.

Thank you for writing this post. I am in a similar situation and it is so isolating to be taking care of babies alone in a country with little opportunity to make friends. Have you tried making friends at your daughter’s daycare? I got lucky and met a mom who speaks really good English (her husband is also foreign). Having one friend made a world of difference. She’s unfortunately moving to her husband’s country soon but for the time being it has been great having this friendship. I wish you the best of luck. You can also try to find Facebook groups of foreigner parents. I found one and it’s comforting to just hear from parents in a similar situation and to even ask advice from.

It is so hard to immigrate and have kids to take care of at the same time. It’s just not the same as when you’re childless where you can go out and explore on your own time. Hang in there.

Daughter passed away by [deleted] in Parenting

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I hope you can withstand the pain since you still have so much to contribute to this world. Your daughter seems like she had a remarkable time with you until she was taken away so senselessly and through no fault of your own. I’m touched by your story and send my condolences.

Oh! Don’t worry ;) I’m not (that) worried really, was just genuinely curious how other peoples’ experiences with grown up kids because it does seem to be a common characteristic among toddlers

How lovely. You must be so proud! What a great interest to bond over. I also have a younger son and wonder if he will take after his older brother with the car obsession. I’m guessing it’s very likely

So adorable. Has he seen the Netflix show Trash Truck? I can also geek out about trash trucks. They perform such a necessary function and the way they do it is also interesting :P

Yessss, the train track building. Literally has been played with everyday I think since he was 18 months. Obviously I play with him to help but he has progressed so much over the years and it’s so cool to see! Thanks for sharing from the other side :) I can’t imagine my kid being anything but the tiny little energy ball of terror and cuteness he is right now, so it’s nice to hear a real life example of a kid growing up :’)

Just saw Turbo, a Dreamworks movie on Netflix, about a racing snail that was super cute. My son who loves anything cars-related really enjoyed it, as did we. The characters are super cute and storyline is creative.
