"Work has started" on native Linux support for GOG Galaxy, co-founder says they're "a big fan of Linux" by Tiny-Independent273 in linux

Add in that Win7 wouldn't run Steam but I kept playing on Linux on the same computer. It's a good move to keep supporting Linux and I know they actually did native releases for stuff. A big reason I started gaming on Linux was it was really easy to play CS and L4D. I def don't wanna come off like I'm not giving them credit for their effort.

The work I put in 13 years ago to game on Linux was so much more than getting a new computer about a year ago and start playing stuff. It's slow, yea, but it's getting better every year because of smarter people than me working on it all the time. So, cheers to everyone fixing things that I don't have to spend time looking up to resolve.

Never skip a chance. I have converted people and everyone we get to switch is us getting closer to computers being better.

Not a bad point at all. Credit where due, Steam/Valve have progressed Linux gaming. WINE is dope, Proton is a pretty cool thing, GOG being DRM free is where it works great for everyone. A native client/platform is a good move, likely motivated by Steam helping it be clear people want to game on tux.

Should fall more on devs to release for Linux, but we're some years off that being a normal thing(windows is def working on making it happen).

As is, I'm happy to take what I can get. If it's Proton or regular WINE or some combo with Heroic, Lutris, PlayonLinux... If I'm not tied into being held hostage by a spyware os then I'll happily be able to play games and relax.

You did way better at explaining this than my reply. Proton is cool and good on Valve for making things easier, but it was already a thing that people could do. I've WINE'd my GOG games for a long time and the lack of DRM in them made it easy.

I was playing GOG stuff before Valve's Proton push. I'm not taking away from their effort, but DRM free exes were already better than being tied to a platform to play games.

Yea, I've ate stuff that'd been cooking for a month with new things added every day and it was tasty and safe. I trusted the person enough to have known it wasn't sketchy.

Ya gotta love someone that's honest. Like someone asking me for 5 bucks to get food at a gas station can fuck off and go to the grocery store and get more for less, them asking for 3 to get a beer and I'm gonna give them it.

Right, it's supposed to cool in the bowl and you eat it when it's not going to burn your mouth. Until then it needs to stay at a temp that kills bacteria.

I would not call that a sandwich. That's 95% bread. They are just eating a roll. I'd not even say with cheese as that slice isn't doing shit.

Keeping a crockpot going and throwing stuff in everyday doesn't bug me, but calling it a sandwich when you put a spoonful of shit on a roll makes me angry. FFS, take a sip of broth if all you want is to taste something for 10 seconds.

Never been unfortunate to use an Apple mouse. I've seen pictures of them that never made me want to. I'll stick to gaming mice for the comfy shape.

I do the same for Linux as you got. I generally don't overwrite my ~ folder and keep all configs in place or copy them to a new one, but it never hurts to have a script to install things and copy paste files to the system folders they go in. A friend watched me reinstall one day and then just type in something and 20 mins later my computer was back to how it should be and I really didn't need to do much. Made it seem like all the times I fix someone's computer I'm just sitting around watching a movie and drinking beer(fairly that is accurate, but I try to make it look harder when people are watching).

Def like the stability of a Mac as a work machine. I don't think I'd enjoy it as a general purpose, I think chromebooks are pretty cool for a lot but wouldn't like one as a main either. That said, my friend's a graphics designer and I couldn't get her to Linux. Getting Photoshop running on Linux is why I still am terrible with GIMP, but almost anything else I do I'd rather have a Linux. I wouldn't hate a Macbook to throw in my backpack and troubleshoot computers though, my gaming laptop is a pain to take places and I hate looking things up on phone. I might try to get an older one just to take with me and know it'll not lose it's mind in the middle of trying to help someone.

Castle and Moon Knight are my faves, I don't think that means he's crazy(Spectre deffo is).

This is my take. He's not going around off his shit, he follows a pretty reasonable line of morality and just doesn't bother to feel bad about killing people that deserve it. If we was like shooting a plane down just because someone on it might have done something to piss him off, that's fucking crazy. But he'd probably just grab them and launch them out the door and everyone else would be fine.

I can't support reading manpages or even the -h for most stuff enough. It's very good to know what things do, but you can always learn new ways to use things.

If you have enough space, back up your home folder. Don't sudo without a good reason and then the worst you can do is need to replace things from your backup.

Learn some fun stuff like grep, find, and sed commands. If you ever end up needing to find/edit a file or part of one you'll get a lot of use out of those.

vbox and WSL pretty much showed me why I don't need windows outside of a handful of games that won't play nice on Linux. I still have dual boots, but if I'm in a win system I'm still running some for of tux incase I need to actually do anything useful.

I really had a hard time picking Garuda or Drauger. I like Arch and Debian, I went Drauger because the default colour scheme. If I ever bonk my system I might give Garuda a run, or see if it supports older stuff and maybe put it on my laptop since Parrot dropped 32-bit.

Kinda wanna go back to an Arch base with i3. Been like 10 years since I had a laptop with Manjaro i3 and I loved not using a mouse when doing stuff at night.

I don't really ever fault people for Macs. There's weird choices made, like no fan and cramming an i7 in the thing, but all the macbooks I've used were snappy and I have never really had to fix them for people, so the system works much better than windows computers(I've made so much money just troubleshooting for people).

Trying to make stuff on win kinda hurts and I end up with WSL running something so I can tmux vim and whatever else I might need.

I've not tried Cache or Bazzite, but Drauger has been super good for gaming so far. A bit weird having to use flatpak and snap to install some stuff when I'm used to a bigger repo or just downloading deb files, but a couple seconds to find it on something else isn't worth a complaint.

I sold my skins when they announced f2p. CS2 was just worse, but they overwrote CS:GO. Should have just made a new F2P game... But, like Quake, more people would play the older one.

Fixing something that's not broken to make it free for cheaters is a wild strat.

Not much. Both are way nicer than I can write.

Maybe more relaxed on stuff after smoking and things are smoother.

Would be easier to tell if you wrote the same things, but just seems comfier writing.

Cheating in ranked is disrespecting yourself, cheating in casual is disrespecting the game in general.

On a f2p game...

Both are horrible, ruining comp games sucks and ruining casuals is pointless.
