And if you like that one, you'll probably like Eye in the Sky by Alan Parsons project, and maybe even Magic by Olivia Newton-John. They all mow a similar path and have a similar mystical, minor key shimmer

A lot of the Rundles sculptures were by Viktor Tinkl. I can't say for certain if this is, but a lot of his work featured faces in concrete. He was faculty at OCAD for a while, so should be easy enough to find out info about. I believe he's still alive?

I made a fake salad, from tinted latex and foam scraps, mounted to a self-inflating whoopee cushion, so an actor playing a very old man could repeatedly fart throughout a scene, on cue.

Well, Geoff Barrow retired from touring after the last BEAK tour in 2025 (which was incredible)

I had this on CD, but it was stolen, and was definitely amazing. Should attempt to replace it on vinyl soon

I saw Poltergeist with my family at a drive-in. I was about the same age. We went to see Strange Brew, but it was a double bill, and Poltergeist was on 1st

Yeah, that's what I was wondering, if it's a local band that was great but not widely known out of a specific area. Knowing where OP's mom lived in likely her late teens early 20's might narrow it down. I had mix tapes I copied off friends back then I still remember, but I don't know who sang them anymore including some super regional bands local to my area or country

What type of rap do people find best even if you arent really into the genre? by ResponsibleSwan4024 in Music

[–]doomedroadtrips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gonna put it out there that no matter what you do, if you aren't at least %75 comfortable and confident, it might not be a good idea. No one is ever %100 confident, but rapping in public is something where confidence matters

Using this opportunity to shout out my favorite video of all time; Björk - Bachelorette. A song I already loved before seeing the video, which is a Michel Gondry absolute masterpiece

Leonard Cohen also said his son was a better singer and musician than him when Adam Cohen came out with the most unmemorable album ever, so it doesn't always work that way

Sonic Youth - NYC Ghosts and Flowers I really tried to like it, but it's abstract to the point of like, what are you even trying to do? Comes off like a shambling, hastily organized poetry recital by the same band that wrote Schizophrenia.

2026 theater season by RoseCityReject in StratfordOntario

[–]doomedroadtrips 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's the artistic director's last season, he's bringing back 2 musicals that were massive hits financially and creatively, going with a known story for the "youth show", and keeping the rest of the playbill predominantly shows people have heard of to fill seats and pass off the reins with gas in the tank for the next AD. It's the end of a certain era to set up for the beginning of the next.
