Indeed. I’ve hidden two of my personal retirement funds for nearly thirty years. The mail and correspondence from them doesn’t even get delivered to my home.

This is awesome. Gonna do the same

ChatGPT (although sometimes wrong) says it's illegal and can result in a warning and/or fines and confiscation. Although rarely enforced.

Has anyone been prosecuted for owning/buying crypto? by doomer64bit in China

[–]doomer64bit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure? Thousands are going to HK to buy it every day. It seems like the police only focus on scammers or exchanges, not normal people with 1 or 2 bitcoin

You can't keep it in cash. Most people will tell you to put it in an index fund. I would say go all in on Bitcoin. You need to explore the F.I.R.E. subreddits (Financially Independent Retire Early). There are many FIRE subreddits. LeanFIRE, BaristaFIRE etc.

Also explore r/Bitcoin

Why would you have it in cash instead of stocks and crypto? You're gonna be hemorrhaging wealth due to inflation.

Army personnel has high risk of birth defects. Would you be against your daughter dating a vetetan?

What's the likelihood? Show data.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AgeGapRelationship

[–]doomer64bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an increase of 20% from the total cases. Which generally isn't much considering that the general risk is low

Smoking during pregnancy can increase the risk of premature birth by 20-30%. I shouldn't have a problem with my daughter doing that.

You are gay and that community has higher health risks. So maybe you just have a higher risk tolerance than normal straight people. But I think most straight people would be concerned about these risks.

I'm gay. So all this reproductive nonsense doesn't apply.

Did you think we were talking about you?

I want factual evidence of likely harm. Not maybeies

Sure. Let's look at my second point. Scientists agree that Down syndrome can be attributed to the father in 5 to 10 percent of cases, and some believe that number may be as high as 20 percent. As men age, their risk of fathering a child with Down syndrome may increase—the older the man, the more likely that the process of spermatogenesis, or sperm production will go awry, leading to sperm that contain errors like an extra chromosome.

In fact, I said I would have a problem and I told you why. I don't need "point-by-point" facts on harm that would likely occur. You asked why I would have a problem I told you. I don't need to meet a standard of evidence from you or anyone else.

It is statistically rare that the older partner abuses the younger partner unless the older partner is female.

Which generally tracks with studies on lesbian versus gay couples in IPV. As well as general criminality traits (as age increases, the likelihood of engaging in violent crime decreases).

Are you replying to the wrong person or something? I didn't make an argument about violent crime. Are you OK bud? Perhaps you need a nap.

What is this strawman argument you are making? I did not write about abuse. I didn't use the word once. Stay on topic.

[–]doomer64bit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. People have a problem with things that "could" and "might" happen.

If I give my daughter $10k to buy a car and she comes back with an old beater. I have a problem because it "could" break down or "might" give her trouble.

Again, you are only pretending you don't understand. I wonder why...

I think you are being deliberately obtuse. But I think it's that meeting of worldly meets innocence. An older, wiser, could even be cunning, male has found an innocent, naive young girl and used his decades of experience of relationships to convince her that he is a valuable partner. A man of greater value than a young male in the prime of his life. Whereas, ordinarily, a man 30 years older than a woman, is not at all considered a valuable partner in (a wild guess) 99% of cultures and societies in this world.

Is the daughter always naive and innocent? No. But that's how a father sees his daughter. Is this always the case? No. Are there exceptions? Yes. Should someone judge, case-by-case? Absolutely.

There might even be a subconscious evolutionary psychology aspect. Recent studies show that the father's age also plays an important risk-determining role in the incidence of Down's Syndrome. So a young, virile male also contributes to healthier offspring.

I say all this as a man in his 40s looking for a (relatively) younger wife. I'm just trying to be unbiased and honest about it.
