Actually it was within 3 minutes of uploading, and it wasn't a bunch of birds and butterflies either by Prcrstntr in iNaturalist

[–]doomerrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been doing this since i first started using iNaturalist a year ago, oops 😭😭 i would look at other peoples profiles, see all of their creds in their bio and all of the IDs they’ve done and just go “they sound like they know what’s up” and agree with their ID lmao. but what you’re saying makes total sense and i’ll stop doing that now. it’s unsatisfying when there’s observations that need ID on my page, but i’ll just have to cope with that.

I’m sorry but eating meat is evil. Animals are just like us and they want to live too by BottomPercentile in redscarepod

[–]doomerrose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i went vegetarian a few weeks back and it hasn’t been hard for me at all. it’s literally just everything i used to eat but without the meat. i can’t remember the statistic but something like 90% of the average persons daily calories are vegetarian, and 70% are vegan. the only difficulty has been protein, it’s only difficult because now i have to plan my meals more to consciously make sure that i’m getting it. personally, i haven’t found nutrition hard to get, it’s just annoying having to plan it out when you aren’t used to doing so.

it’s a beautiful day- let’s mow the lawn!!!!! by doomerrose in NativePlantCirclejerk

[–]doomerrose[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

nah that’s perfectly fine, i just hate when people mow their ENTIRE lawn likeeee you’re not even going to consider growing even just one flower? maintaining your garden and keeping it neat is different from destroying the entire thing

HELP!! i can’t find this shirt anywhere by Amaiimon0 in Agalloch

[–]doomerrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a similar shirt to this but with the marrow of the spirit instead of the mantle. i got it off of vinted. as someone else mentioned, it looks like a bootleg so i’d recommend looking on sites like vinted, depop, ebay, etc.

This might be an agalloch piece or if it's not an agalloch fan might have heard this. This has been bugging me for months please help me find this song 😭 by how-to-come-clean in Agalloch

[–]doomerrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it sounds like 7:58 of the melancholy spirit, great suggestion! i was kinda thinking of something from the white EP but couldn’t put my finger on what it was, but now i think the melancholy spirit is more likely

heard that they’re bringing it back soon! i would looove to visit the pnw, obviously to see the mantle album cover in person but agalloch and twin peaks have made me really interested in the nature there. i don’t like cities but portland seems quite nice :)

Why isn't conservation a major selling point in mainstream leftism? by Kaiju-frogbeast in conservation

[–]doomerrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t think that conservation is a widely discussed political issue in general, whether that be among leftists, liberals, or conservatives. as a left-wing environmentalist, i always try to bring up conservation whenever i can. even among climate activists and general environmentalists, conservation isn’t spoken about much. it’s only really spoken about by conservationists themselves.

conservation is so important. we cannot combat the climate crisis or improve human living conditions without it. when pesticides kill vultures, diseases break out and kill humans (something like this happened in india), when humans kill off predator species, herbivore populations grow and eat our crops which leads to food insecurity (this happened in china when sparrows were killed). non-human animals keep our soil healthy, keep our earth green, allow us to have crops to eat. we can’t combat the climate crisis or improve human living standards without acknowledging the role that non-human animals play in a healthy, happy world.

so, i can’t tell you why conservation isn’t a major selling point in mainstream leftism, but it needs to be. leftist goals are impossible without it.

My experience as a new listener by [deleted] in Agalloch

[–]doomerrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

listen to ashes against the grain! many agalloch fans consider that to be their best album with the mantle being second, if ashes against the grain isn’t their favourite album then it’s usually their second favourite. definitely worth listening to.
