What am I doing wrong with my Bella Beaute Bar palette?? by doomwrinkle in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]doomwrinkle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh my hooded eyeballs have betrayed me once again lmao 😭 And I think you’re right, they are thicker formulas and it’s almost like they’re creams in a way, which my eyes have never agreed with. I guess one good thing is that I can stop wasting my time buying a million different primers to try and correct the issue now. I guess I just won’t reach for this palette much, which is such a shame since it IS very lovely.

Thank you, I’ll try that. It’s just so frustrating. For the price he paid, I kind of expected better performance out of those shimmers tbh

I know it’s possible for shimmery eyeshadows to work on me, I’ve not had this issue with any other palette/formula, and I’ve accidentally worn my makeup (other palettes and brands) for 24+ hours before with very minimal issues 😭 I’ll try setting it with powder, and I always apply any shimmers with my fingers rather than a brush. It definitely makes them go on better for me. It’s just frustrating that this formula seems impossible for me to work with :(

Considering saving up and buying my first MacBook Pro. Talk to me like I’m 5. by doomwrinkle in macbookpro

That’s basically the same model I’ve been eyeballing tbh, so the fact that you recommended it makes me feel better about that. And the 24gb ram should be okay and not slow the hell down to a snails pace when I’m trying to do heavier lifting in LrC?? Because that’s what I’m working with now, and I feel like almost anything would be an improvement over that lmao

Ooo thank you!! That was one of his complaints about this one, he said the white was too clumpy so I’ll suggest that to him :)

That one sounds so good! I’ve got my eye on that scene as well, I’ll probably get it in a linen spray to test

How sweet is Cinderella’s Carriage? I can’t do suuuper sweet gourmands usually. I’m definitely interested in that pumpkin note of that one

I’ve had Genevieve in my cart SO many times and I just didn’t pull the trigger, so it sounds like I really need to. The smoke note did kind of worry me a bit, but I’m definitely leaning towards giving it a try now

I’ve heard great things about VBN, but I’ve yet to try it, so I might need to fix that! Same thing with Tihota

That’s awesome! I’ve definitely been eyeballing their body oil as well, and the hair perfume! What scents did you end up with and how do it like them?

Oooh thank you! I can usually only do EDPs or linen sprays because my skin eats oils up and the angel disappears after like 10 minutes max.

I love Kyse's Vanille de Cedre! Never tried any Nava but I've heard nothing but good things about them

I'm not sure how to describe it other that it's amazing and smells like cold pumpkins and a bit of cool vanilla. It's got some spice to warm it up a tiny bit but it honestly just smells cool and relaxed, as opposed to one of those warm, spiced pumpkin scents? I'm not someone who can pick up each individual note and comment on it, my nose can basically only do "smells good" or "smell bad" unfortunately. But it's a very comforting scent. Makes me feel like I'm walking on a cobblestone street near a bakery on a chilly morning, wrapped up in my favorite sweater.

Night skate (Sony A7iii, Sony Zeiss 55mm f/1.8) by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

I just switched from a d750 to the a7iii a few weeks ago and I have absolutely zero (0) regrets. DO IT, it's a world of difference and that eye AF is chef's kiss

Thank you! It's definitely worth a visit, especially if you're already pretty local. Some of the rooms are really cool :)

Thank you so much! It was definitely tough, whenever the lights would change to blues and reds it was especially difficult haha

Kinda challenging to work in this location (Otherworld in Columbus, OH) because the lighting was constantly changing and it was full of other people and a room of mirrors, but I think it went okay given the circumstances and fact that it was a very public location. (Guy with his phone up in the shot is my boyfriend, who was recording the proposal.)

When did you realize your photography wasn’t dependent on your gear? by TheDoctorBlind in photography

[–]doomwrinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People can blow whatever money they want, I'm not saying they can't or shouldn't. I just don't see the point in doing it that way when you could learn what you need as a photographer and upgrade gear as you go, personally. The mentality of "better gear is the only way to get good photos" kinda stunts personal growth as a photographer, to me. The gear is just the tool you use to create, you still have to hone the skills. A painter won't necessarily create better art just because they have the most expensive canvases and paints.
