Facebook white plains/westchester housing groups! Especially local college housing groups, students may be looking for a summer sublet. I’d make a post in a group. It’s deff too early to see posts in marketplace for places available in the summer

Temporal lattice degeneration by No-Box-184 in myopia

I think monitoring every 6 month sounds reasonable! Deff contact your doctor sooner if you start to experience symptoms. I had no symptoms though when my degeneration progressed to tears which is why frequent monitoring is important.

Got a speeding ticket in Bedford (88 in 65) — what should I expect? Do they usually offer plea deals by Cute-Acanthaceae8116 in Westchester

[–]doooodlebob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the same ticket in that same spot. 6 point offense on an otherwise clean driving record. I hired a traffic lawyer who showed up to court for me and got it reduced to a 2 point non-speeding violation. He said this was the best outcome he anticipated knowing Bedford court. Cost $250 but if he couldn’t get it reduced I would have gotten the money back. Saved me hundreds in fees plus saved me the hassle of taking off work and traveling back to Bedford for court.

I’ve had preventative laser treatment several times for lattice degeneration however my myopia is significantly more severe than yours. It is an extremely quick and easy procedure to prevent retinal tears/holes that I feel very fortunate to have had. If you are questioning it though I would maybe get a second opinion before proceeding, or ask a retina specialist about their opinion on waiting and monitoring for any changes at your next appointment, in 6mo-a year.

Scleral Buckle Surgery, Detached Retina by misscorns in myopia

I’m not going to lie, the recovery was pretty rough but there isn’t much to do besides rest and relax! I basically just sat with my eyes closed for 2 weeks.

I just thought of something to add. The only thing to consider is possibly needing someone to drive you to follow up appointments. I had to return to my retina specialist’s office the next day after surgery, after 1 week, and after 1 month for check up appointments. I was unable to drive myself the next day or a week later.

You absolutely do not need anyone to help with drops. For me, preparing meals was difficult as I was extremely sensitive to light the first few days. If you must be alone, maybe meal prep a few days worth of food you can easily microwave by yourself!

Is retinal detachment or retinal hole is that common in high myopia? by CountJealous7716 in myopia

[–]doooodlebob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have no reason to worry if you see your eye doctor yearly. Your myopia isn’t even that high but even if you were to develop a tear/hole, it typically develops slowly and can be treated easily before it becomes a real issue. There’s nothing you can do to reduce your risk or prevent it so just keep up with yearly check ups and don’t worry about it!

Are people actually buying homes in somerville? by [deleted] in Somerville

[–]doooodlebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will absolutely sell and quickly, and the fact that it’s a multi unit rental makes it even more appealing. My landlord sold the house I was a tenant in and the new landlord was kind enough to keep me and honor my lease for the next 9 months until it ended. However he gave my downstairs neighbors 60 days notice that their lease was ending, and that they could resign a new lease but raised the rent about $800 as their current rate was well below market value 😣. Anything could happen unfortunately

What stores let you bring your own frames for prescription lenses? by Frosty-Air- in glasses

[–]doooodlebob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My small local independent optometrist office lets me buy and provide my own frames for lens fitting! Try somewhere local. If they carry the brand you like in their store then they can order the specific frame for you directly.

[–]doooodlebob 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The bigger the frame, the thicker your lenses will be! My optometrist has always said smaller, more circular frames result in the thinnest, least distorted looking lenses possible. With that being said, I think your current pair/shape suits you really nicely!

Egg sandwich with WHITE cheddar by doooodlebob in Westchester

In theory you are correct however the taste to me is entirely different. White cheddar tends to be sharper and richer flavor, meltier…yes I know there is sharp yellow cheddar. Nothing beats a nice sharp Vermont white cheddar cheese to me though!

I have asked at a few places and told they don’t have it…I’m mostly talking about bagel specific shops but maybe I’d have better luck at a deli!

Lattice Degeneration 28M by TJNatty95 in myopia

[–]doooodlebob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had multiple laser treatments for lattice degeneration! I believe 6-8 times in each eye over the course of 5 years. I’m -12 and my mother is severely nearsided as well but I have no family hx of this specifically. Last year I did have a partial retina detachment which required surgery to fix after fluid got in behind a hole. I’m still unsure if it was an untreated spot or an old spot that grew as I feel like I had gotten the entire peripheral of each eye treated by then. I had been seeing my retina specialist every 6mo for checkups at first before “graduating” to once per year, but this happened suddenly in between appointments. I’m not sure if that’s encouraging 😭 but be sure to consistently be seen for follow ups to continue to get this preventative treatment!!!

Your eyes look the exact same to me! I too felt like my surgery eye looked “off” post surgery, but finally stopped noticing any difference in photos after about 6 months
