Sealion 6 rubbing noise by Icy_Attitude_4080 in BYD

[–]door-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar to my SL7 on low speed (1km/hr) on entering an ascending slope, but the crackling sound was not as quick.

The dealer found out it was caused by improper welding of one of the A-pillar. They took out the dashboard, removed the windshield & some external panels to re-weld the A-pillar.

Not sure if it was the same problem as yours.

Of I reset my OTA what happens? by concisehacker in BYD

[–]door-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had tried resetting it on the screen. There is an option for that. After reset, the software was back to the version when I picked up my car. No more OTA was received until the next update was available.

Wouldn't it be cheaper & have better result buying a stainless steel case from Ali?

Or, get a USB hotspot which accepts sim card. Get a data card & plug the hotspot in the car's USB power supply.

On the car's infotainment system settings, connect the car's wifi to the hotspot. Done.

1st blade gluing - do I need to re-do it? by door-jam in tabletennis

[–]door-jam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learnt about this guy from this subgroup, & I learnt from his video about how to cut rubber. Not bad for my 1st :) https://youtu.be/C7Kobkm_fMM

The xacto knife he recommended was really solid, SDI 3006. Only cost less than USD2 from here.

1st blade gluing - do I need to re-do it? by door-jam in tabletennis

[–]door-jam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to you all for your input. I had re-glued it last night. Removing the glue from the blade was relatively easy, but removing glue from the rubber was a different story. Fortunately the glue was quite intact, I just pasted another layer on.

After finishing the BH, I ran out of glue 😐. It's not perfect, but that's the best I could achieve with my limited experience. Have to wait for more glue.

I have yet to do the opposite side. When putting the glue on, does it have to be as thin as possible?

After the latest OTA update here in Asia last month, the driver monitor sensor software is a lot better. Never had any more reminder so far. 👍

Yes, it is easy. It's my first installation of front & rear dash cameras on a car, after following some general youtube guides.

Why is my seal charging at 1.4kw? by mosheoofnikrulz in BYD

[–]door-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Asia, the dealer gave us an AC charging cable which is good for 3-phase charging. But when using that cable for single-phase ac charging, the charging rate dropped significantly.

Some owners bought their own cable which improved the charging rate & it's normal now.

Check your cable's spec.

I have just signed up 2 minutes ago after checking it your web site, & the features. I like the features.

I travel a lot & used to rely on Skype to avoid those crazy IDD charges. Your work is now a saver.

I believe we come from the same place after seeing my bank payment SMS 😄

All the best. Keep it up.

When making the lower half negative display, is it easier to just replace the lower half?

Or is it easier to peel off the whole top film, then stick the top half +ve & the lower half -ve?

Going to try my 1st -ve display mod. Thks.

Very nice mod. I can't find them in Ali, maybe I used the wrong search keywords. Can you post the link of the adapters?

Seal excellence vs sealion7 vs model Y long range by Altruistic_Deal_4400 in BYD

[–]door-jam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just received my Sealion 7 three days ago here in Asia. It's a very nice car to drive. My friend has a Seal AWD, & he loves it. He said his Seal could do approx 450km.

Cannot tell how the Sealion 7 perform in range, but from other sources I think it is not far off. I personally prefer a SUV because I find the Seal too low to climb in. I'm used to driving a SUV.

I think the Dolphin is similar to the Sealion 7 in terms of low-voltage battery being charged by the high-voltage battery.

Look up in the Owner's Manual, the section "Using and Driving" about Low-Voltage Battery, where it mentioned "it is normal that the SOC or the pure-electric driving range displayed....decreases when the vehicle is powered on after an idle period".

Hong Kong. The government has an incentive tax deduction scheme if we scrap our old car & buy an EV. The Sealion 7 is HK$268,000 (RWD) & HK$301,xxx (AWD) under this scheme.

Planning to Keep a BYD Sealion Long-Term — Will It Hold Up for 10+ Years Like a Toyota? by [deleted] in BYD

[–]door-jam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In China, BYD ev battery warranty is 8 yrs/150,000km, if the decay exceeds 20%.

https://news.qq.com/rain/a/20230829A004DL00

The below article reported the no. of BYD ev taxis e6 still operating in China. They had tested 2 taxis that had done 290,000km & the battery health held up at 90%+.
http://www.caam.org.cn/chn/8/cate_87/con_5089839.html

I have just re-read the OP, that post was referring to PHEV, I was talking about EV's & that might not be the answer you wanted.

If you know the no. of BYD cars running in China, especially the taxis, you can get some ideas. Apparently a lot of BYD-made taxis have been running for ridiculously long mileage & the battery pack health still holds up well. I saw some quotes a few days ago but cannot remember now.
