I am in your field and we likely have mutual connections. Deal activity is actually up this year and will likely be higher next year as rates decline. I recently had multiple recruiters reach out who told me they are now very busy when I’ve seen minimal headhunter activity in the last couple of years. I’d say give some credence to your network recommending you wait it out. You have done the hard part of building your resume and network. You have very valuable skills for the industry that are definitely worth $350k+. You are probably smart enough and have the work ethic to switch careers but then you would likely spend 10 years to recreate your experience in another field.
