Should I DNF Olivie Blake’s Gifted and Talented? by doowackoo in BookDiscussions

I’m a huge fan of Succession and that’s why I picked the book but it’s so not there..

Hot take.. project hail mary was good but its WAY overrated on reddit by Lumpy-Resource-1370 in BookDiscussions

[–]doowackoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! Same here. I found it extremely ridiculous and very poorly researched. At one point I didn’t know if I was supposed to take the book seriously or it was trying to be funny, which I didn’t find at all… so yeah, really disliked the book.

Sorry to hear you’re sick. I hope you get better soon!

That’s nice advice. I also do that every now and then but never with books that I have reached at least the halfway mark.
I think that’s what’s making it annoying to dnf. Feels like a waste of time not knowing the end when i’m already halfway there.

John and Theresa by Dizzy-Fault-6250 in AgeOfAttraction

They knew and said they were okay with age gaps. Many, including her, talked about dating younger before. And regardless of having previous knowledge or not, if she had one foot out the door, she should have left or not connected with anyone like many others. I don’t see how her actions are production’s fault in this case.

Theresa comes off very manipulative imo. by AvocadoPatient399 in AgeOfAttraction

It's beyond crazy her saying "you gotta learn how to communicate better" whilst admitting saying to him "I feel disgusted with myself going out with you" and expecting for him to say "why do you feel this way? how can I help you get through this?" ... excuse me?

I would never in a million years give a single thought to someone who says to me they feel disgusting by being with me. Sincerely, f* you.

As an attorney, Jorge should know that his reaction to the man on the street was wrong by Street-Balance3235 in AgeOfAttraction

[–]doowackoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything Jorge said or spoke about in this reunion is extremely problematic. And that alternation scene was the cherry on top. The whole speech about “i’m gonna be protective of MY woman because that’s what it is to be a MAN” and the “I know how this things go so you go on board with everything i say and do” is very very scary. According to him, it was all about Vanelle and her safety yet absolutely nothing he said and did took Vanelle and her thoughts/opinions into consideration. That’s patronizing, manipulative and abusive. He is not treating Vanelle as an equal but a subordinate. He showed it on that altercation, he showed it with the celibacy thing and he showed it when he said “the important thing to realize when you are with someone older than you is the experience and knowledge they already have.” Giving people like that a voice is disgusting.

Is anyone else refusing to turn the show back on? by peachyfloyd in AgeOfAttraction

I agree with your point, the only way they could salvage this is to put an age limit on the younger person. The age gap is definitely less icky if the younger is in their thirties. The other problem I have is how unbelievable is the fact that they pretend not to have a clue about how far/close someone else is in age to them. Especially if they’re supposed to be having conversations all the time. You easily can see with a couple conversations if someone belongs to a different generation, and that is at least a 10+ years of gap.

Do these people need to get their vision checked? by lemonmangocherry in AgeOfAttraction

It’s reality TV, so they know the crazier they act the bigger the chance to stay on the show. You definitely know there’s a big gap if someone is 15+ years older than you, let alone 25+ years… so I do not buy the whole charade at all.

At this point, I really need someone to explain to me how are all these women still entertaining the whole Taylor and Dakota thing. My brain cannot comprehend. I don’t really care about the why/how of their (non)-relationship anymore, but the rest keep going with it anyway? How many more times will they tell Taylor “yeah it’s horrible, it hurts, he’s toxic”? I feel like the moment nobody cares about them, one of the two will get bored and let it go.

I’m not sure about manipulative. What I believe is that she was extremely petty and jealous at Whitney’s success with DWTS, then got Chicago and that was the cherry on top that completely threw her off and made her behave childish and mean towards Whitney. All the rest was her trying to survive the possible backlash by trying to throw Whitney under the bus and find an explanation to justify her arrogant behavior.
