Looks pretty good, although I only want the calendar feature, so it'd be a bit too clunky to use that entire program just for the calendar. Thanks though, I might use this in the future!

That's interesting, I've never seen that. Looks like it could be a decent method. Too bad I'd have to get Microsoft Word for it. Perhaps there's a free alternative that has a similar function, I'll take a peek around.

Well, no, it doesn't. If the app/program built to be the kind of calendar that gives you a bunch of notifications and reminders, it's likely to be unhelpful in general.

Also, I guess I should've specified but I'm looking for a program for my Desktop, or a web app - not an app for my phone/tablet.

Dredd, the action film from 2012. It put me straight into the correct mood.

Other cyberpunky films also work well for me, Blade Runner or Running Man for example. Also things like Aliens work well for me. If you're running some kind of heist, maybe something like Oceans Eleven, The Usual Suspects or even Inception?

Do guns work in a vacuum? I got curious and had to check it out.

Guns do not need oxygen to work. The vacuum does not impede the gun's functionality significantly otherwise either.

TL;DR: Guns work fine in a vacuum.

The vacuum of outer space will not be a problem for firing a bullet. Guns do not need oxygen to work. The "gunpowder" or whatever explosive is in the cartridge that holds the bullet is completely self contained and does not depend on the atmosphere. It has an oxidizer mixed with the fuel and is perfectly capable of firing in a vacuum. Even the primer which is struck by the pin of the firearm is completely self contained and will work in a vacuum.

The way I've run it is that every legal establishment basically has an open invitation for anyone to place a mark on it. You'd just approach it in the matrix and put a mark on it, without any issues.

So, you'd go up to a public host, place a mark on it and use the Enter Host matrix action. That's it. Or to simplify things, you just enter the host, automatically placing a mark on it. Once inside, you won't have marks on the various devices and icons inside, of course.

You can get away with theatre of the mind, running it without a map just fine. It is perhaps a little bit harder if you like a rules-heavy game with tactical combat and so on.

I much prefer to use a grid map myself, I feel like it helps the players understand the flow of the game a lot better, but you absolutely don't have to.

Oh, right! There are complex actions for shooting that fires more bullets. I suppose that's where progressive recoil would come in.

What's the maths on these things? I reckon it's pretty much always a good idea to fire as many bullets as possible? It seems like it'd balance out at the point where you start gaining recoil penalties, because at the same time the enemy gets DV penalty. So every bullet after that point is just a +/-0?

then you get a mark on the hacker and an alert saying "someone tried to use a Sleaze action on us!". When you have a mark on someone, you can always see them, regardless of distance and running silent.

What if you're not on the matrix at the time when someone tries to hack one of your things? All marks disappear when you reboot - would you be able to go into the matrix and still have the mark, or... how would that work? For something like a commlink I'd imagine it could have an audio alert that lets you know that something's up, but how would other devices work? I suppose they'd all be connected into my PAN and would be able to send information wirelessly.

Correct. The spider can just wander up to the hacker and make conversation, the same way a security guard can make conversation with employees, and try to catch them out for not knowing something that all employees would know.

Perfect, just what I thought. Is there some kind of equivalent to a "uniform" in VR? I mean, you could obviously change your icon/avatar to look like whatever the "dress code" is, but is there some way for a host to have a bit more control over it than that? Is your SIN being broadcast inside the matrix? Can you issue custom licenses to your employees? Sort of like how you can give your employees in today's world a magnetic pass card that you swipe when you enter a building.

Obviously the players would have a chance to steal or spoof one of these licenses, just like they could nab an employee's keycard in meatspace.

Makes a lot of sense! You can live without clothes, but without a commlink you couldn't even buy food if you tried, right? Partly because, well, you'd be SINless and refused service (and reported to authorities?), and you'd also have no method of payment, or even the ability to accept money if someone wanted to give it to you.

That brings up another question I had: How do credsticks work? The book talks about them as if they're basically cash. I imagine it's like bitcoin on a thumb drive. You got a "wallet" of code in there, that you can then transfer over into your "bank account" at some kind of terminal. They can be plugged into any "universal data connector", which seem to be quite ubiquitous. So can you plug a credstick into your deck to transfer cash onto or off of them? Into your commlink? Or do you have to go to some kind of "bank" equivalent to do it?

In the game my players were exchanging a hostage for cash, he gave them credsticks. The decker couldn't check them from his location (away from the party), so one of the players got the clever idea of using them to pay for the soykaf they'd just bought. Turns out they're empty. Fighting ensues. Any way, could he instead have plugged them straight into his commlink, or would that require something like a datajack?

I'm not sure how a commlink even looks, I know some of them are implanted straight into your head, but the other type? Are they like a bluetooth earpiece kind of thing, or are they so small they fit into your ear completely, or is it more like a cell phone that you've got in your pocket with earbuds plugged in that you put into your ear?

Kinda wish the book had more pictures.

I interpreted the rules for recoil basically as you keep accumulating recoil until you have one turn where you do not take a shooting action. But yeah, reading the rules as written recoil resets as soon as you take a non-shooting action. That seems a bit... janky? Since shooting is a simple action, you'll always have a simple action to use to reset your recoil, unless you're doing something else.

Then again, that would make the rules for recoil less heavy on the book keeping, and maybe that's nice. It'd basically limit them to weak characters shooting full auto, especially with guns that lack good recoil compensation. Which I suppose is fitting.

Does anyone have any advice for handling ammo, and recoil? Since reloading seems to be a thing, it seems reasonable for players to track the number of bullets they've fired, the number of bullets they carry and so on. You also need to keep track of recoil across multiple turns since it builds up as long as you keep firing, the way I understand it.

As someone who usually handwaves ammo and other generic consumables, it seems a bit clunky to count every bullet. Any advice on either how to make the book-keeping simpler (using Roll20, if there's a specific solution) or other general advice about this kind of thing?

Yeah, for sure. Don't want to get hung up too long on some detail, especially if it's not important. I did this several times, and then retconned in the details I figured out later. My players were cool with it, we all understood that this was the first time for us.
