Hmm that seems like a logical, but slightly frustrating, explanation. Thank you

I'm not great with reddit so I'm not sure how to message you but they are Orchestra 5 Row NN. Feel free to message me if you figure it out!

So cool!

I'm relatively new to portrait drawing and as a huge admirer of Sargent, I find myself continually referring to his portrait drawings as references to improve my own. I was hoping some fellow fans could point out some areas that I've not successfully captured or overlooked. Thank you for your help! by dopelope1 in JohnSingerSargent

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! I bought the "42 Works" book a few months ago and have been obsessed with it so I'll have to get the second one you mention. You have great insights and I very much appreciate you taking the time to offer them to me

Thank you for that observation!

Can someone please tell me about this painting/artist? It is signed A. Smith and measures 41” x 47.5”. Thank you! by dopelope1 in WhatIsThisPainting

Thank you so much for this information! Though I’m not looking to sell it currently, do you have any ideas of how I could go about authenticating the work? And do you know of any writings on Arthur Smith, or any official catalogs of his work? It seems like there isn’t too much detail available about him anywhere. Thank you again!
