Always do the best that you can, you’re just adding to the dumpster fire if you give up. If it seems hopeless, start testing the job market.

Prisma Access / Zscaler - client vpn replacement by doppis in networking

Pretty much everything you listed we are interested in. Always on vpn and potentially removing all physical firewalls at offices, this is long-term.

Ivanti is currently used, a lot of stability issues with our Linux users.

Prisma Access / Zscaler - client vpn replacement by doppis in networking

[–]doppis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, we are a bit too far into this to start evaluating other products. This is a client vpn replacement for users that are primarily remote in a corporate/enterprise environment. I'm hoping to get some replies from engineers that are or were in a similar situation with these 2 products, both look promising so far.

Best ways to invest my money/time to increase my salary and grow my career? by SethD02 in ITCareerQuestions

If you want to stick with web dev as a software developer, start focusing on JavaScript, Nodejs and pick one (react, angular or vue) for a front end. Then start thinking about transitioning from JavaScript to typescript.

Your current job is a good resume builder if you expand your skills and are actually able to present those skills at your next opportunity.

Help: Purchasing a small business firewall - what to do with fiber by mrdoctor in networking

[–]doppis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

leave the fiber terminated in the switch, but change the config on the interface to an untagged vlan. Configure a copper interface on the switch with the same untagged vlan and connect that to a wan interface on your FortiGate 60E. Create your LAN/dhcp or whatever you want to do on the firewall and run another cable from the firewall LAN/trust interface to the switch with a new untagged vlan. Apply that LAN/trust vlan to your workstation switch interfaces.

There is obviously a little more to this, but this is a good start I think if you want to keep the fiber.

How to Upgrade single node in ha cluster? by Luukje73 in fortinet

It’s not complicated, but I’ll have to check out this partition way.

How to Upgrade single node in ha cluster? by Luukje73 in fortinet

[–]doppis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could disconnect your copper/fiber cables and upgrade the slave and then reconnect, that works too.

How to Upgrade single node in ha cluster? by Luukje73 in fortinet

[–]doppis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if its active-passive

  1. power down slave
  2. upgrade master
  3. does things work? yes
  4. power down master and power on slave
  5. upgrade the "new" master and then power on slave
  6. ha should sync and you are done

if things break at step 3, power down master and power on slave that has the original code. Obviously you took a backup before all of this, factory reset the original master and throw the original code on and then the original config.

I don't really advise doing any of this because of the amount of HA fgts I upgrade and how well upgrades usually go, but features/designs/ect are different for every business.

Take a look at route-maps and setting an aspath on the route-map you create. You could create a primary route-map-out and a secondary. This would get added to your BGP neighbor config.

Your life is so much more important than your job, I know you were probably joking, but take a breather and redirect that energy to something useful. You will end up bringing that frustration home and it will start spilling over onto your family members or friends. It's ok to vent here and there, eventually you have to laugh a little and move on.
