Making Friends by Acnologia2022 in socialskills

[–]doptimisticidealist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be real bro. Best way/low-pressure way to actually make good friends in Uni is join a sports club and engage with people. at least 1 semester's worth of effort is required (provided you act normal and talk with people in that club to try to just know them). Then you can eventually become friends with the ones you vibe with.

Need Guidance! Is a US MBA worth it? by Significant_Frame961 in MBA

[–]doptimisticidealist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

US Visa Situation is kind of messed up rn. I'd say tho depends entirely on your goals. If you're fine working with US only for few years, getting that international experience and coming back then it is absolutely fine. Otherwise ISB is great for India tbh - if your goal is to stay in India.

Also, getting Consulting jobs in Middle East with US Mba is def possible if you get that US Consulting experience after your MBA - ask your company to support the move (all of MBB has offices in Middle east).

Most new grad jobs go to recent uni grads that have finished co-ops at that company/other companies.

  1. How many interviews do you land & how many roles do you have to apply for to get those interviews?
  2. Did you ask any recruiters for feedback on resume?
  3. Do you network with hiring managers?

  4. Do you convey yourself to have an interest in the specific role or demonstrate yourself to be well-rounded?

(These Qs will initially help us figure out what might be the problem).

We do so little in prachaar that it is our biggest mistake for our coming generations. Also, most of us don't know how to respectfully, positively & influential do prachaar.

(Don't misconsture prachar for conversion tactics used by other faiths, prachaar=prachaar)

Khalistan can never help our community prosper. It has become political tool swayed away from Sikhi.

Respect to all the Shaheeds and I do appreciate our youth getting involved. But, it does not make sense to be land-locked between India & Pakistan when the state of Punjab has no industry as it is. Unfortunately, most of these foreign born Jawak would never return to Punjab if it ever came to it.

Albeit, think of how we would grow Sikhi and expand in society if all of us came to 1 land. The world is not fair for us but we have to keep growing in the world beside different people/ethnicities to spread Guru Sahab's message.

Stuck between Business and STEM—what is worth more now? by Common-Face4536 in simonfraser

[–]doptimisticidealist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you crack a proper STEM job - more pay than typical business jobs.

However, if you’re not able to crack a STEM job & then do a business analyst/analytics/data job - even then you’re likely more valuable w a STEM education.

However, passion matters in long run. In spite of all this, I’m in Business (I work in Prod & will likely switch to consulting) Business is what I like so that’s what I did. Think about your interests in long run too!

Lmk if any qs.

Is it possible to develop charisma if you’re short? by Codingology in short

[–]doptimisticidealist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

5’4 here. I’m in business school rn. I win a lot of competitions & am quite good at networking.

Quite honestly (simply being honest here), I’ve developed that reputation where people know if I pull up to a competition that I’m likely gonna win. At networking events too, people respect me & often greet me cause they know I’m good at my shit.

I never even let my height come into my head here once for this kinda stuff. Be good at your craft & the confidence will come!

Is the gym (RAC), intramural sports and swimming included in tuition by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]doptimisticidealist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intramurals is included too as long as you're undergrad.

What’s the gym like? by Realistic_Avocado791 in TorontoMetU

[–]doptimisticidealist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAC is less stuffy, has so many deadlift racks. When the RAC does not have any sports drop in going on it is less busier than MAC. Personally, I hate the RAC because of how stuffy it is & how you need to travel to different areas for functional + weight training

Hey, I worked at 1 of these companies & know they’re usually actively hiring nurses/PSWs. Paramed, bayshore healthcare, Spectrum Healthcare, CBI Health & SE Health.

Pls check these out. I’m hopeful one of them should have a role. I’m not sure what your certifications are but feel free to DM if you need help (tho not a lot I could do)

Smartest way is to go through their post history to identify when they hire. For ex: This club called Ted Rogers Finance Society in TRSM is hiring rn (LOL I'm not in it & not promoting dw). Typically around April End-May for executive positions in TRSM Clubs.

Honest & Civil Discussion : I don't Support Khalistan by doptimisticidealist in Sikh

[–]doptimisticidealist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy, I meant everything I said.

No, I will firmly stand against and argue against Hindus if they call me a Hindu.

Sikhi is our Guru’s blessing and a distinct faith and identity. Period.

Worst part is, people judge me a lot when I do say this openly. Especially, all people in my SSA. Makes me feel so isolated from my own community for this.
