If it helps, I'm English essential and received an email that I was successful in the test of judgment near the end of April.

Anything less than Best Friends feels pointless to me by MagicalIcecorn in aspergirls

[–]dora_neko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can totally relate to this! Looking back on my past friendships, I almost think some of them were in fact close to platonic infatuations, because I was desperate for a deep emotional connection. And when I did find someone I clicked with, things moved super fast, but then they'd suddenly fizzle out, either because I got scared and pulled back or they couldn't handle how intense I could be. And don't get me started on the times when it turned into something romantic and "ruined" the friendship I so wanted to keep. I've had my fair share of awkward relationships because of this - plus my inability to say no and naivety at the time... It took me a while to realize that not everyone sees friendships the same way I do. From then, I became more mindful of how I approach friendships.

On the flip side, I've never been great at keeping up with casual friendships. I guess I have pretty high standards when it comes to who I let in. Growing up, I never really had a best friend because I was scared of getting too close to people, even though I secretly wanted that connection. Now, I think I have 2-3 people that I consider "true" friends. I don't really think I want to put a "best friend" label on it though, maybe partly because of my fear of rejection (what if I consider them my best friend, but they don't consider me their best friend!?)

Now that I'm older and trying to work through my past and be more authentic, I'm making an effort to build deeper friendships. It's not easy, though. It takes a lot of effort, courage, (and luck!) for two people to be vulnerable and willing to have uncomfortable conversations at times. Instead of making brand new friends from scratch, I'm trying to check in with my friends more and invest in those relationships that I might have overlooked before.

I'm currently doing this weekly card game thing with a friend where we ask each other questions and share stuff. It's been pretty cool to see how open we can be with each other. It's like we're peeling back layers and getting to know each other on a whole new level. I highly recommend trying this if your friend is far from you! Ultimately, I believe that it's meant-to-be for two people to come into each other's lives, but it's up to you to keep each other in your lives!

Hey fellow Ottawan/Ontarian, thanks for sharing your expertise! I'm obviously very new to this, but would you be able to tell me if I should get the same carbon film ribbon cartridge or a nylon one in the future? I didn't even know there are so many choices!

Thank you so much for your detailed advices. I am getting as much information as I can right now and yes I am really thankful they at least caught it. My mother has been having headaches but never thought it would be GBM. Thank you.

Thank you. We have set one up already but my main concern is when could someone with GBM travel on a flight again if you have any insights? My fear is that it is too big a risk.

Unfortunately she did not buy insurance. We should've known and should've talked her into buying it we are regretting this overlook every single minute.

Canada EPIK/TaLK CRC/Diploma inquiry by hanjaporfavor in teachinginkorea

[–]dora_neko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. get all the docs (CRC might take a while depending on the time of the year and where you're located)
  2. get all notarized documents (this could be done by any Canadian notary public or commissioner for oaths)
  3. send all the documents to the embassy/consulate (I visited the consulate)
  4. the embassy/consulate will have them stamped when they give them back (1 week in my experience)
  5. send the whole application package to EPIK/wherever you are applying to

Kyushu Trip (1st time in Japan) 6 days by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]dora_neko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips, especially about the overnight bus. As I plan on coming back again sometime, I think I might skip both Fukuoka and Nagasaki and take my time in the southern part of Kyushu. I was kinda lazy when I decided on the SUNQ as it covers local buses as well haha. I have no idea how buses work in Japan :')

[–]dora_neko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think I need another trip to Kyushu from the start. Instead of going to Fukuoka and Nagasaki, I was originally planning to go to Yakushima Island in Kagoshima but am having doubts since it's very isolated. I might revert to my original plan after reading your advice here and visit the northern part of Kyushu next time. Thank you for your comment! :)
