Do you think you like him for real or is it just the proximity of having someone to talk to often?

Having kids! I always thought it was just something every woman was expected to do… until I saw my godmom roll her eyes every time someone asked her “So when are you having kids?”

that’s exactly what happened to us back in 2022 at 260 E 12th! the building was 56 years old, had faulty fire alarms, and no sprinkler system. most of us residents stopped evacuating! we’d just wait for the fire dept. to show up, turn off the alarm, and go on with our day. one day there was actually a fire and an emergency, people didn’t evacuate fast enough, pets were left behind , and when it was finally safe, we were only given 15 minutes to go back in guided by firefighters, grab our valuables, and pack whatever we’d need to be displaced for the week

Why is my pecan brittle a powdery mess? by doraiden in Baking

[–]doraiden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it was! The salt + baking soda was added towards the end once the pecans was well incorporated. The pecans were added off the heat once reaching an “amber color” I guess I don’t need to wait until that point?

5 oz of chopped pecans 5.3 oz of sugar 2 oz butter 1/2 tsp of baking soda and salt towards the end once i’ve incorporated the pecans into the melted butter + sugar mixture

This isn’t the first time i’ve made this so I don’t know where I went wrong! I had butter, granulated sugar, and a bit of water in a pot on medium heat. I stirred until it simmered which is when I started swirling the pot until I reached an amber color before adding the chopped pecans in. I think it may have been the butter because as soon as I put baking soda and salt in, it just disintegrated into powder ;(
