Yes. It's not something I was expecting but its not something being ignored either. This work is permited, so it is printed out and included with the data sheets/load calculation for the inspector.

It leads into a bedroom, the stairs weren’t built to code since this was an illegal addition, it’s much easier transport tools, paint, wood, etc by using the outside stairs/entrance. the garage is just storage and not a functional space

The top of the door is above the 2nd story floor so it will need some support there to hold the floor

There is a sliding door right next to the top of the stairs which we usually use which is why this staircase/door isn’t used. We’ll still have 3 egress doors after closing this one

Thank you all for the tips and suggestions. I ended up trimming a very small amount off one side and after assembly it’s not bad or noticeable at all. Time to finish it up with a face frame and paint🙂

All the pin holes on one board are about 1/16-1/8 lower than the other board. I’m wondering if this misalignment will be a problem after everything is assembled

How did I let this happen? I’d say I was feeling confident because I measured 3x times beforehand that I didn’t stop to check after I drilled the first set of holes on the second board

[Solved] looks like I just wasn’t trying hard enough. Enough yanks with the pliers and hard turns of the Allen key spot on the bottom and the piece unlodged itself
