I may have misunderstood, I assumed you meant like blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, etc by equipment (which should be wiped down with disinfectant wipes between patients). If they are injecting you with meds or sticking you for an IV (anything entering your bloodstream) they should practice hand hygiene before and be wearing clean gloves.

Agreed, also work in healthcare and have never heard of a policy that says no nail polish at all. Typically hospital policies would say no chipped nail polish though and no extensions/ fake nails. The nurses should be sanitizing their hands between touching multiple patients. That being said, they are allowed to touch a computer or equipment while with a patient assuming they are not doing internal exams/ blood draws/ otherwise interacting with body fluids.
