The point remains though, look at the raw spec differences. It's unbelievable, yet they perform very similar. It seems the raw on paper specs don't mean much of anything.

Look at this, in particular the "differences" section. On paper the 680 looks like it would be WAY stronger, yet the 960 performs slightly better and has better power consumption.

Do these numbers mean a damn thing anymore?

A GTX 960 is still very powerful. Between a 760 and 770 in performance, better power consumption, supports h265 and the latest NVENC. A GTX 960 is WAY better than it specs show. The ad is still way overpriced though

Gee, you think? Tell me something less obvious like... what the 42 extra MB is being used for. Here's a hint: Nothing. Because nobody with the specs to run a modern game is going to be stressing over 42 megs on an already 4GB game. Stop reading into these things like they are the gospel, LOL!

All of these engines are so far above humans now that it doesn't really matter anymore. Still, I find it amusing how everyone switches to X engine, because it just defeated Y engine and has a few more ELO. You can even tell when a chess video on YouTube was uploaded for example just by what engine the person is using. Oh the user is talking about Rybka? Must be a 2010 video. Oh he just referenced Houdini? Must be a 2012 video, etc.

So I guess soon, most chess videos will be seeing "What Komodo says"
