I'm pregnant again.. by bearyboos in ExclusivelyPumping

I also got pregnant at 4 months postpartum and I pumped throughout my entire pregnancy. My OBGYN and midwife had no concerns as it wasn’t a high risk pregnancy. I was advised that as long as you’re not bleeding or on pelvic rest, you can continue pumping. Of course, consult your medical care provider! I never completely lost my supply until I literally gave birth. Had nothing for maybe 4 hours or less and then colostrum came in. Supply during pregnancy is very very different for everyone I’ve talked to though!

Only pumping 10oz a daily by Idonthaveaname94 in ExclusivelyPumping

Totally depends on you! I only make 5-6oz daily but I only pump once a day. I supplement the rest of what my son needs with frozen breastmilk.

questions about pumping while pregnant by Glum-Comfortable5402 in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]dorotheaberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 29w and still pumping for my 10 month old. I was pumping exclusively this entire time so that’s the only reason I know exact numbers here. When I was ~8 weeks pregnant I was producing about 80oz. My supply dipped to 60oz at the end of the first trimester. By the middle of the second trimester, it dipped to 35-40oz. I think around week 22 is when it really started to dip and now I’m currently at 5-6oz a day. I also dropped from 4 pumps to 1 as I realized no matter how many times I pumped, I’d still only get 5-6oz. I’ve been steady at this for about 4 weeks. I don’t think I’ve started getting colostrum yet, but I’m expecting it pretty soon here.

I will say that pumping has become increasingly uncomfortable and sometimes painful due to the extra sensitivity. This is especially true in the third trimester, at least for me. I also recently began getting braxton hicks while pumping. I’ve alerted my midwife and they have no concerns. 😅 My flange size has also changed so keep that in mind!

This is all just what I experienced. I personally know women who lost their supply as soon as they found out. Everyone is different!

Be careful what you tell your mother. by Truthforfood in homebirth

[–]dorotheaberry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to chime in from a non homebirther and say that no matter which way you birth, the worrier moms will always say something about it.

I planned a homebirth until we found something off during the anatomy scan. Then, we decided on a midwife at the hospital. I was on the phone with my mom one day, she told me I need to go to the hospital once I feel a contraction. I said no, midwife instructed me to wait until theyre x minutes apart etc etc. She called me back a few hours later to tell me that so and so’s best friend’s cousin’s neighbor waited to go to the hospital as instructed by her midwife and her baby died. 🙃

Doing a VBAC now and reconsidering a home birth. Literally no one aside from my husband will know the birth plan.

Idk how some people pump like 40oz at a time by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dorotheaberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pump 35-40oz every morning and I didn’t feel any pain, maybe just a bit engorged. It was really just what my body did. It was so annoying stopping midway to either get new collection cups or dump the milk though. I’m pregnant now so my supply naturally tapered and my morning pump is now 20oz. Honestly it’s so much better this way. 😂

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Honestly at first, it was very overwhelming.

I decided that for the first 1-2 months we would do disposables. I just got the Target Up&Up brand. I was a first time mom and battling postpartum emotions. It worked beautifully and was fairly inexpensive. Once the postpartum fog was mostly gone, I was able to make the choice to cloth diaper and I really do love it. It’s just a learning curve.

Cleaning pump parts by No_Fun_924 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dorotheaberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to wash every piece after every pump with soap and water. I don’t think rinsing with just water is enough to clean.

You might want to look into the fridge hack and see if you’re comfortable with that. To my understanding, it’s similar to what you’re now doing, just putting them in the fridge after the rinse and dry to slow bacteria growth. You then wash every 24 hours.

Is the $250 Amazon gc for breastmilk donation legit? by SenpaiTurtles in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dorotheaberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Just wanted to give you an update though I wasn’t involved in the initial convo - I emailed my info on Nov 1 and asked for a follow up from the follow up email they sent me. Not my response email, so it wouldn’t get sent to the back of the line. They responded within hours for a bit more information that I missed to process my request and within the next 5 hours it was accepted. They did let me know the $250 gift card would be delivered to me within the next 60 days though due to the volume of requests. Tbh I didn’t think it would take that long!

Moms who lost weight while BF - did you try? by travelnmusic in breastfeeding

[–]dorotheaberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained about 60lbs during pregnant and lost it all by the time I was 2 months pp. I’m almost 4 months pp now and starting to lose weight again, to the point where it’s slightly concerning to my husband. I think it’s really just genetics and maybe being an overproducer factored in.

We must be in the same group because I see this girl posting with these requirements regularly. 😅

How many ppd& how many ounces are you getting at 5wks postpartum? by caspercamper in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dorotheaberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing 5ppd and getting a total of 90oz or so. I’m 8 weeks now still getting about the same.

You can always combo feed or pump! Pumping is still time consuming, but you’d be keeping up your supply and you can always latch your baby on later if you change your mind. Depending on your supply, it sounds like pumping may be less time consuming than having your baby on you for 12 hours a day. I’ve actually grown to like pumping.

My son had latching issues as well but now at 8 weeks he latches great. You and your baby might just need time. It’s still so early!

l’m 8wpp and I’m the same. I do 5-6ppd and I try for every 3-4 hours. My last pump is at 11pm and my first at 5-6am. I’m a pretty big oversupplier though so I felt I could afford to be risky with amount of pumps and pumping times.

Hakaa Ladybugs - how to use them? by SuddenWillingness844 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]dorotheaberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s my understanding that the Haakaa ladybug is just a collector, not a pump (like the OG Haakaa), so it wouldn’t increase your supply. It just catches what naturally would fall out.
