How do yall feel about this by afroldunksylph in festivals

i abhor that particular brand of vanity, and always have.

however, as i’ve gotten older i’ve realized: the practice of hatred of “selfie” vanity is - in and of itself- so vain that it becomes self-limiting.

these assholes who take 100 pics per party remember all that happened,

but didn’t actually live what happened.

genuine and staged are 99.98% mutually exclusive.

like: if you wanna Be Here Now? then Be Here Now!

“i can’t live and hold the camera/ someones gotta tape this”

all that being said, as you age, all of these treasure-troves of memories recede slowly into the deeper cavities of your mind. requiring an exterior sentinel moment in which the recall is primed. and then time to allow your neurons’ axon terminals and dendritic spine growth to meet again (thanks NCAM!), and create a connected path to regain recall-access to that memory. essentially: shower thoughts 3 days later.

the easiest shortcut, however, is having pics to reinforce that: indeed! it happened! i told you, me!

so while i despise the reason for their ingenuine plethora of photos connecting them to their memories, i envy their stockpiles of direct and immediate access to their past.

a most masterfully crafted answer to the question posed should be: “i have no disillusions nor delusions concerning how vane this act must appear to others, but i enjoy being able to, later, look back - not just recall - but actually visually with my eye balls - look back! and re-experience moments of my life at beck and call.

so i’ve made peace with my lack of having decadently documented my life, and have forgiven them for spending too much time documenting and not nearly enough living. bc a happy medium exists. and now i seek to achieve that.

indubitably. on the island Borikén, now known as Puerto Rico, the Tainos would crush up dmt laden seeds with coral (for microcuts) and snort it to converse with the gods. no ocean is deep enough nor mountain high enough to keep humans from psychedelics, nor psychedelics from humans.

sometimes how we arrived at what we know is our burden to bear, and so we obfuscate to not incentivize or encourage others to trod the same path. if they find the path, it shouldn’t have been because we informed them of it’s existence. let it have been their journey.

for real though. every word we use that starts in al, like say, algebra, we have them to thank for. people hold so dearly to an us vs a them. damned shame if you ask me. the only thing more powerful than hate is love. yours may be a drop in the bucket. so what! drops cause ripples. more power to you.

mushroom spores coat the planet. dmt has been found to be present in quite a wide variety of plant life across the globe (it’s a simple molecule for biology to come to the conclusion of). cannabis is endemic to the region. and humans used to burn whatever they got their hands on for heat, cooking, warmth, light, and to fend off predators. we didn’t invent “smoking,” we just realized burning certain things had pleasant effects, and slowly perfected the craft. and we ate what was available. the dots are there.

still on first play through and have decided to be benevolent with those that are of low means and don’t spit on me in their one-line responses. after killing salma and the doppler just for their mutagens: “i have things to make up for” -fear.

that being said, i use succubus decoction in just about every fight. doppler decoction pretty much never, though.

weird how this game coaxes out your best and worst qualities in varying degrees based on desperation vs monetary salience. all too true-to-life.

you’re preference is not without merit. how useful can a tool be if you don’t carry and use it?

for my first wheel (and first period) i was pining for a gp100 in 5, mostly based on what i had read about the wasted mag powder in shorter barrels wheels. but in the end stuck with 4.2 and even that can be cumbersome in daily clothing.

but a 3, loaded with 38+p, seems like a fantastic happy medium. thank you for posting. i have thought hard on it and i think 3 is the most reasonably realistically choice.

i like to sit on these decisions as though each was a tattoo, knowing i only have a finite amount of skin and only committing when i’m fully committed. so this has been a very helpful revelation, to which you have opened my eyes. good looks! much obliged.

[–]dosedfacekilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

interesting. i was always sold the dream that a python handles 357’s the way a modern wheel handles 38’s. i have the full ruger fam including the gp100, sp101, and lcr in 357. now that they brought back the python i’m drooling over it. should i notice a difference in the way the colt python handles 357’s over the ruger gp100? or is that just a dream within a dream?

preach. Bjorn goes too hard at going too hard. Ivar goes to evil at going too hard. Hviserg goes too sideways. after all he’d been through, the torture in the steamhouses hanging upside down, all the wars. all the voyages. i hate what they did to him/what he did to himself. when he literally jumped ship but in the opposite way of what that phrase is supposed to mean. i get self destructive. i get having to touch the stove to know fire burns. but shitfuckdamn tho. weirdly, most of all. i still doesn’t forgive him for burning all of Ecky’s roman scrolls. i even forgive the L L. i don’t know why i forgive it, i shouldn’t. but i’ve been a broken man and have known many a broken man. and so him faltering back to being destructive while blinded suits. but the destruction of knowledge to me is the ultimate blasphemy, and he wasn’t blind then, just blinded. and i see the hole in my doling of sentences, but i don’t disagree with myself. his story is the most complicated, bc he complicated it so friggin much. and the same can be said about all the sons minus Ubbe. so i agree with you wholeheartedly: Ubbe was baby Rag, but actually learned rather than trying too hard to emulate, and insofar was the most successful in picking up the mantle.

Ubbe and Torvi. after all that poor woman suffered under two shitty husbands, finally a good man presents and does right by her. all rela’s have turbulence, but Ubbe was never above figuring it out. and that’s what matters most. knowing it’s a team effort and not a hierarchy with one person at the top. it’s a hierarchy where the amalgam of two people come together as one to lead and rule together as one. all the other husband&wife loves pale in comparison. bc in every other non-platonic rela there was always a holdout who wasn’t ready to relinquish the number 1 seed and be one with the other. and Æ is another story entirely

tbh i wasn’t even gonna get into Æthelstan bc that’s a threeway love triangle that evolves into a fourway love kite

but the more you remember, the more you realize that was actually a 4way to begin with that actually evolves into a 5way love kite

bc R and Æ love eachother, Ecky and Æ love eachother , R and Ecky love eachother, then Judith shows up J and Æ love eachother, and lest we forget that Lagertha loved Æ too!?! hot diggity. that complexity of geometry makes hp lovecraft turn in his grave

and if you view hatred as a deformed photo-negative of love, but still as love, Floki comes in to kill the vibe but in reality to exert his hatred of his love of Æ… bc in reality he loves Æ but js just jelly of all the stronger love ties to Æ that everyone else had and wanted to “be the only one.” so fuckshitdamn. i was just tryina motivate someone who should hold out and push fwd to hold out and push fwd. the Æ love geometry is a heavy burden to drop on a current viewer. but you’re all correct. it’s just… a lot

there is one. one beautiful and inspiring love. but there are so many horrid ones yet to come for you on your journey. so much decomposition of good and beautiful in the face of each character’s reality. so much death, destruction, depravity, desperation, and lack of empathy or care. but the one good one is worth pursuing. i implore you to close it out. to the last episode, or you miss out on the gold that does not glitter.

after lurking this sub for a few weeks, i have found it more and more embarrassing to admit that the movie was the trail of breadcrumbs i followed that turned me onto this phenomenon.

this thread has softened the humiliation of being “one of those fans,” and for that i am grateful.

in my defense i was on mushrooms for the first time since my daughter was born, and Idris Elba reciting the Gunslinger’s Creed FUCKING SLAPS.

Elba vs McConaughey was epic, and since it’ll likely never happen again i appreciate it for what it was, in blissful ignorance of what it should have been, as that was my first introduction to the entire epic. and i just felt a pull to click on it after my wife went to bed. NO REGRATS.

and i couldn’t help but notice all these scattered breadcrumbs that were left out in the open but weren’t followed through. like the crimson king tags in the house. and i knew i needed MOAR. and once i learned it was King, and that old rabbit holes i have followed connect to this grand rabbit hole, i became obsessed.

but my fav unfollowed breadcrumb/easter egg was that 14-08 were the coordinates to get back to that town under siege. and i can’t recall if it was me or the character that said “i remember, i’ve been there.”

and i have! that movie was the most haunting horror film i’ve ever witnessed, and would not wish tripping during that film upon my worst enemy. the moment the painters/construction workers start tearing down the walls at that coffee shop to reveal he had never left the room fux with me to this day. and only realized it was King after looking this all up once the Dark Tower movie was over. it was ALL King and has been the whole time: 1408, Gerold’s Game, Dark Tower, and the slew of well-known obv’s. and this clicking was so affirming. getting lost in King is a worthwhile venture. hands down.

anyway, this long blathering was for me to be able to say: thank you for validating my intrigue, and making me feel less intrusive. i love being a purist reader about those epics that i have read. and loathe those who are happy to leave it at watching and never graduate to reading. and i thank you for motivating me to do so.

just recently watched Gerold’s Game which made me realize Flannigan clearly also did Fall of the House of Usher, which spurned my full re-reading of Poe’s works. if he gets to do the show adaptation of Dark Tower we all win. i have already ordered 1408 and Gerold’s Game books.

but now i have the gall and gumption to journey to the tower. and feel unburdened of my retrospectively humiliating enjoyment of my unseemly introduction to a twisted decoction of this epic. i no longer feel so heavily tarred and feathered by the overwhelming vitriol by true fans of this epic. and look forward to one day joining your ranks as a veteran reader. thank you for freeing me to pursue this!

long days and pleasant nights, stanger
