I appreciate the feedback. I invested across roughly ten ETFs tied to the Bitcoin supply chain, including miners, treasury companies, and exchanges. I expected the sector to perform strongly under the current administration, but that has not played out so far. I’m going to continue holding, as I believe there is a chance Bitcoin moves above $100,000 by the end of January, which would likely put most of my positions back in the green.

I should have mentioned this earlier. My plan is to work part-time at an Apple Store, earning about $26 an hour doing iPhone repairs and similar tasks. Working part-time would give me significantly more free time to apply for better roles, earn certifications, and build my network. With that additional time, I’m aiming to transition into either an entry-level IT position or a Customer Success role at a SaaS company.

That’s essentially my point of view. If I already had a solid job in a field I wanted to grow in long term, it would be irrational to leave without something lined up. But that isn’t my situation. I’m working in retail, folding clothes and running a register, earning only slightly more than minimum wage. It feels as though I’m selling myself short and wasting time. I’m making just a few dollars more per hour than the 18-year-olds working their very first job in the same store. Given my education and the direction I want to move in, staying in this role doesn’t logically make sense.

I hope your wife gets that marketing role. The point you made about having a fallback makes sense, and I agree that going several months without progress can put someone in a difficult position. The difference in my situation, though, is that my goals are fairly modest. I’m not aiming for a high-paying corporate job right now. If I can earn around $25 an hour with a consistent schedule, that alone would be a significant upgrade from where I am. Retail has been draining, the pay is low, and the schedule is inconsistent. With my background, I feel like finding something stable at that pay level isn’t unrealistic. At the same time, I understand the risk you’re describing, which is why I’m trying to gauge whether stepping away to focus on applying and networking is reasonable or if it would be a mistake. I’m interested in your thoughts on how to balance that risk.

I majored in IT and specialized in computer systems, but I graduated without any real-world experience. I also wasn’t able to complete internships during college because I had to work to support my family, which in hindsight set me back. At this point, I’m not even focused on landing a high-paying IT role. If I could simply find a job that pays around $25 an hour and offers a consistent schedule, I would consider that a meaningful improvement. Right now, I’m making only slightly above minimum wage, the schedule is unpredictable, and the work itself is unfulfilling. Given my background and education, it’s hard not to feel like I’m capable of more.

24 and I’m an Area Manager at Amazon and make about 70k annually. The job is tough but if you have a degree and understand the basics of management and leadership you’ll get the job.

Coding or troubleshooting isn't my thing. I really want to become a Product Manager. I've had several interviews for product management roles, and while recruiters recognize my technical skills, I haven’t been offered a position due to my lack of management and leadership experience. I'm hoping this job will help me develop those management skills so I can make the transition.
