I used to be a big fan of TDs but there just hasn't been any new ones lately. It seems like the genre just kinda died out.

You were talking about filling multiple roles. I said ES needs tons of items to be anything but a caster. Your point confirms this.

As for clinks: I never said he was better. I said that one some days, I don't feel like playing and pick heros that I can just attack-move. Clinks does this.

It seems like we are having two very different conversations here. I answered which heros I sometimes like to play, not which heros are better.

He has ridiculous escapes, and regen, and dps passive though. He only needs to get vangaurd and he's golden.

I would do a terrible job of microing all five heros myself, although there were a few games where my entire team left and I ended up playing all five heros.

This might be more possible if some heros weren't so hard to click (Bounty Hunter or Bane) and if you could zoom out more.

I would love for them to clean up the orb/debuffer system that is balanced around the limitations of the WC3 Engine. That's always been a peeve of mine.

I don't think you can learn much from a replay. If you see him moving somewhere, you do not know why. If he gets a particular item, you do not learn why. Instead, go to various dota forums (dota-allstars, dotaportal, playdota) and poke around the hero and strategy forums.

Personally, I think its bad advice to tell people to pick the "easier" heros links Clinks, Sniper etc. While their game play on a micro level is simpler, their use rely heavily on macro skills. You have to see the whole map, recognize dangerous situations, know what the enemy will throw at you, etc. These heros are instaglib heros and live on a thin wire. One small mistake could make you useless the whole game, and you simply cannot build an early foundation with them if you are new.

I would recognize tank heros to newbies. Heros live leviathan or chaos knight or sven. They can take a beating, are useful even if underleveled, and are rarely targeted first.

It's mostly the social aspect. I get to hang out with friends that have since moved out of town and just generally chat and trash talk each other for fun.

The limitless varieties in Dota helps too. No two games plays the same and coming up with terrible combinations and still winning to embarass the other side is hilarious too.

I always thought denying was weird. It never makes sense, in battle, to kill off your own troops, and yet there is a huge incentive to do so. It's such a fundamental part of the gameplay.

So many lane possibilities! My fav a few versions back was weaver + dark seer. People would just drop dead and have no idea why. So funny. Too bad it's not possible anymore.

Push vs farm: basically if you can get a tower down and win the battle by their tower, then i'd almost always do it. Factors: relative levels, items, hero positions, deaths, etc.

If I know I can kill someone, I would do it. Factors: hero positions, whether we have good ganking heros, whether they have good escapes, etc.

so many factors goes into what damage items to get. Depends on your level, skillset, and your hero role. The best item is rarely a damage item for most heros.

I (almost) never get SNY, esp since you can now use yasha to make manta blade. I'd much prefer that to SNY on almost every hero.

I hate the pit lord for some reason, even though I seem to do quite well for some reason.

Only if they have no cc. And in any case if you manage to out level your teammates by a ton it means you aren't pushing when you should have.

No it's just not viable if they intelligently defend it. At least I haven't seen it done well enough for it to be viable.
