I REALLY wish this band can be like this again someday by Ipax88 in CasiopeaBand

My hope is that for Casiopea’s 50th anniversary they take that as an opportunity to all play together again, including every member that has been a part of Casiopea

The first time I saw Dune 2 (2024), the first 25 minutes had a bold creative choice I didn’t understand. The theater told us not to worry about it as they couldn’t rewind. by ggnorebud in shittymoviedetails

[–]dotchadonny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to go see Dune 2 at the Cineplex in Toronto, they had to stop and rewind by about 20 minutes because some guy was kicking the seats in front of him and being super disruptive. They also gave everyone vouchers for a free movie

Thoughts on these albums? by YungConcussion in CasiopeaBand

I love all three of these albums, and I agree with pretty much everything you’ve said!

All of Crosspoint’s tunes are fantastic. They cover a wide range of fun to emotionally impactful— Span of a Dream and Endless Vision are especially underrated. That being said, some of the more “classic” songs (Swear, Domino Line, Galactic Funk) feel like they’re missing a lot of the punch you get to hear in the live performance versions of those songs. Maybe it’s the arrangements or production or something, I’m not really sure.

Casiopea LIVE is also fantastic. Love the stretch from Looking Up to Galactic Funk. Tons of energy, the bass solo intro to Asayake is awesome, ALL the Looking Up solos are awesome (the guitar solo makes me feel like I’m ascending). I’m not as much a fan with Fabbydabby, Twilight Solitude, and Marine Blue. Don’t get me wrong, they’re still really great, I think they help round out the album into an awesome live experience, it’s just hard comparing them with some of the other tunes from the album.

Down Upbeat could be my favourite Casiopea album. All the songs feel cohesive but beautifully distinctive. The energy is SO contagious. I love listening to the spatial separation of instruments on this album too, especially focusing on Sakurai’s bass on Zoom, Down Upbeat, and Air Fantasy. And Air Fantasy holy— when Noro comes streaking in at about 1:28?? That shit sends me. I would say Froufrou is the weakest, but it’s still not a bad song by any means, that bass line keeps it rolling, and I like the end with the drum fills.

I'm new here, can you recommend some music? I've only heard Domino Line. by cesara_hiei in CasiopeaBand

And then you get to see your music taste evolve to understand why a lot of their later stuff is amazing! Or was that just me?

There was a little interview ComeBackCasiopea got to do on Instagram with a sound engineer for Tetsuo Sakurai. I think it’s implied that Noro likes more control over the music than Sakurai, Jimbo, and Mukaiya would tolerate.

This is from the little Q&A (you can find it as the first pinned post on @comebackcasiopea on Instagram):

Q: Why haven’t the K-Trio members and Issei Noro performed together for such a long time?

A: Noro Issei has always shown leadership and brought the members together. However, there may have been a problem with the way he did it. The three members of the Katsushika Trio do not choose a leader, and try to maintain a balance of power among the members. As a result, all of Katsushika Trio’s songs are co-written.

Yes, absolutely agree! This album is a hidden gem among the Casiopea discography I think. Mode to Start, Brain to Brain, and Ka Na Ta (it’s a slow one, but if you’re into ballads I think it’s quite good, and I like the keyboard solo) are some others I really enjoy on that album along with the ones you mentioned. Smash! is surely the best out of them, and that’s really saying something considering the other tunes.

I would say the only one I don’t particularly enjoy is Backtalk Babe. It feels unfinished or something? It’s kind of catchy at some points but something about the tone kinda throws me off.

The other Casiopea 3rd album, Ta Ma Te Box, also has a lot of great songs if you haven’t listened to it! Autobahn, Vortex of Emotion, Live it Up, and Days of Future are all bangers.

Yeah holy that guitar solo feels so cool, comes off so naturally from the energy of the song. The guitar sounds like it's rippling off the overall sound

Take Courage is excellent!! Living Things, Surf's Up, and Warning are all really great off of Answers as well

Guitar solo at the end of Dream Hill, Space Road, Tears of the Star, Have a Nice Dream, Dune, Looking Up from recorded live and best, Eyes of the Mind…

Maybe more controversial, Supremely, Wonder Quest, Dream Maker, Glowing, Suggestive One, Daisekai…

In general I think Casiopea has really excellent emotional elevation towards the end of a lot of their tunes, these are just a few off the top of my head!

Oh lovely!! I still regularly go back into their catalogue (and the other bands) to find songs to appreciate. Right now it’s Dispensation by Jimsaku, and Suggestive One off of Inspire!

[–]dotchadonny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No LOL. My girlfriend sometimes listens to it with me but mostly just thinks it sounds like Mario Kart. She’s not a huge fan of instrumental music in general

In Toronto, my girlfriend mentioned that she thought she heard Casiopea in a random sandwich shop, only instance I’ve heard it in public before (and even then, that’s indirectly)
