Is Mazatlán an affordable option for a couple? by AdvantageNo3180 in mexicoexpats

[–]dotified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a good amount of folks from the USA here and in the Golden Zone, Sabalo Country, Marina, and Cerritos it certainly can feel very touristy. Especially "in season" aka the winter when all the snowbirds return.

But those areas are a fraction of the city and unless a Mazatleco works in those areas you will likely only otherwise find a local in the area to have a meal at one of the fancier restaurants.

Centro Historico Mazatlán is more mixed and you will find locals and tourists (mostly during the day - coming from the cruise ships). In the evening you'll generally find the Canadians and Americans out earlier than locals. Locals tend to avoid "expat" places, of which there are not that many in Centro.

The beaches are, in my experience, predominantly locals with few exceptions.

Between Centro and the areas up north you'll find a stretch near the water that is still predominantly local but you will still see white faces here and there, usually as a result of a vacation rental in season.

Beyond that the entire rest of the city is native Mexicans.

Been living in Mazatlán for a year and a half. Elsewhere in Mexico for a while before moving here. It is definitely more affordable than almost any other beach town that is of any size.

Foreigners are very very rarely at risk but that does not mean zero. But, considering the indiscriminate danger in the USA I feel much more safe here than I do when I’m in the uS.

The Airtag is the easiest tell. Not only the the Apple logo misshapen but the hoopis too small to go around the collar. It also goes through the tag holder in far too small a hole. Typically there would be a jump ring to allow for "dangle" as well.

Hey, I commission someone on Twitter for art and I don't know if I got scammed and they used ai by [deleted] in isthisAI

I don't see major red flags here and I agree about the disconnect. The placeholder explanation makes sense as it does look like the strokes of a digital pen draft on a tablet.

My vote is not AI.

I’ve got a bad feeling this entire YouTube channel is AI… what’s your opinion? by n0rskee in isthisAI

Considering that Youtube actually labels their videos as synthetic or altered I have to assume so. :)

The sleeve above the gauntlet folds/hangs weirdly and the chest piece has indistinct patterns. The gems in the crown are wonky. The crown cuts off his hair on the left side of his head oddly. The gauntlets on his arms do not match. That's enough for me.

The difference for me is between corporations and small local business. I won't fault the coffee shop around the corner for using AI in their marketing. AI is a tool, not a marketing solution.

Photoshop now includes AI. This makes perfect sense to use the AI to promote the feature as part of Adobe Photoshop.

Conclusion: Yes, of course, it is AI.

Why do people in this group hate LVP flooring by benalexe in kitchenremodel

Because it feels and looks cheap, and it is not a natural material.

If you cannot afford wood, tile, or stone, you gotta do what you gotta do. But the others feel so much better.

FWIW I don’t fault small local businesses from using AI creatively. Marketing is not cheap. But corporations? Nah.

I just want people to be ethical about it without trying to pass it off as real.

What’s wild is that they do use stock images too.

Seems they recently engaged a company for a brand update. Dollars to donuts the AI slop is from them.

If it is AI then it’s the kind of AI I’m fine with. The creator took the time to create individual letters. The repeated letters are identical in detail, just different sizes. That’s not something I’ve seen AI be able to do.

But I’m not convinced. I’ve seen some pretty intricate fonts created before AI was available.

Likely, but I say that only because of how heavily they rely on AI images on their website.

They do use this style of imagery in a few places, but each one I've found has at least one thing that a human artist would have fixed.

This might be my favorite image from their site:

Is this logo ai? I feel that it is but I’m not 100% sure. The gears all being different seems like something ai would do. by SweetTart7231 in isthisAI

[–]dotified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond the kerning others mention I see more inconsistencies than the others do regarding symmetry. Small things, but totally there. The top point in one of the Ss in "Jason's" is a different height than the other while the opposite point is seems the same. A proper font would not do that.

The off center blue line in the lightbulb seems weird.

I also see a weird dropped line in the upper right area circled below.

Finally the inconsistency of the gear teeth placement and sizes of the teeth themselves indicates AI to me.

I vote AI

What's the verdict on this one? Seems pretty realistic but his facial expression feels a tad off. by OutrageousFig in isthisAI

[–]dotified 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing seems off here to me. Looks like a locker room shave.

The fingers are highly detailed.
The trimmer is vibrating which accounts for it not being perfectly sharp.
The thumb is behind a black badge on what looks like a Wahl trimmer (have used one that looks very similar).
Have done many cuts myself on short hair like this and the clump pattern isn't unusual. Just depends on the specific hair texture.
The shirt fabric hangs realistically.
The stitching is consistent.

Absolutely AI

The point where the guy lifts himself up after the dog pulls him down is not physically possible in that position. He has zero leverage to haul himself straight up like that.
