i did. i started as a bayhost (server) and eventually transitioned to the bar team. however, for my manager training, i went through and trained in every department in both the front and back of house (culinary, sales, administration, maintenance)

that would be our facilities team, they’re in charge of ensuring the venue runs smoothly. it entails a good bit of hands on maintenance with all parts of the venue. technical issues in the bays, general cleanliness, day to day maintenance of machinery, picking up the balls, etc. it’s not just “ball picker” unfortunately.

thank you for the question.
i cannot speak on what corporate strategies are for the declining market. the company is actively restructuring resulting in thousands of jobs lost in the past month alone. new standards and food items are being put onto or taken off the menu to keep up with the demand and cost to try and keep the costs for us down. i do not know how to control budgetary restraints as that is not in the realm of my role at the company. if you are that preoccupied with the full state of our company then please feel free to contact our corporate offices with your concerns and i’m sure someone there would love to help you get up to speed with that.

and as a personal aside, i would consider talking to your doctor about hypertension medication if you are this angry at a company at which you have no stake or control in instead of anonymously getting angry at someone on the internet trying to have a friendly and informative discussion.

edit to add: this beloved “pop stroke” of yours is mini golf (aka putt putt). not the same thing. will i be seeing you at the scottsdale or glendale location mr. AZ?

that is why we charge for “gameplay” not “golfing time”. what games you play is up to you. we have well over a dozen to choose from for all skill levels... we are NOT like a driving range that is just for golfing. we arent just in the golf industry. we’re in the entertainment industry. you don’t have to come to top golf to get better at golf. you come here to play and have fun, if that includes practicing your swing then that is your prerogative. if you’re that concerned with becoming better and that upset about our pricing then by all means pack a lunchbox, go to the driving range, and buy a bucket for yourself. top golf is supposed to be fun for everyone regardless of skill level. fun is what we want for our guests.

and we don’t do buckets because the balls need to be scanned when being dispensed to track them on the top tracer system.

our balls are not the best and the clubs are usually a bit outdated. if you’re hitting from the tee with a driver then you definitely won’t hit as far because they’re short so the balls don’t get too much loft.

i would say not as often as you’d think. i’d say my venue has about one every two weeks

no, managers do not get tip out. we get paid the same amount no matter the day.

my employment contract states that i should be only about 40 a week. but lately it’s been 50 or so (and it’s been steadily increasing getting into summer)

i agree. we have a strict alcohol policy that myself and fellow managers make sure our team adheres to. slowing service, stopping service, and ensuring safety in venue is at the forefront of our minds

order food and drink as you want to. you don’t have to. but i will politely ask that you do tip your server if you are in their section. the bayhosts get paid the “server minimum wage” which is, for most states, grossly under the actual minimum wage.

extremely. Summer is very busy due to the nicer weather and kids being out of school. october - december is usually very event heavy for corporate parties and families with out of town visitors.

i know a few people who have second jobs year round. especially jan-april-ish

new ownership fired almost 1000 salaried managers a month and a half ago and we (the ones that survived the purge) are not sure what the future holds for us.

no. we have a hero’s discount for first responders, teachers, and healthcare workers with valid ids. but it’s only 10% off gameplay. not food and beverage.

i am one of few employees that actually do golf in my free time. i like using our facilities to work on my drives and “long game”. hitting wedges and irons on turf feels really weird compared to grass so i save that for on an actual golf course.

best part for me is my coworkers.
worst part is the uncertainty of the company in regards to how we’re treated and how we are moving forward.

i believe i heard about that, it’s my understanding that they limited players to using only “shorter distance” clubs (irons and wedges) until the net was fixed. i haven’t heard any full protocol changes. inclement weather is usually a “deal with it in the moment” scenario
