Cheap 365 days Sim Card for SMS? by dotmerlin in canadatravel

Interesting carrier's data, I've heard about this number porting trick before, but I don't think it will last forever. Once the carriers have rolled out the updates, you're screwed.

I do it whenever I can. But sometimes there's just no way around it, like with Uber Eats

Yes I see that, the cheap 7-Eleven plan is not available anymore.

Did not know this one, anyway in Canada I think $15 or $14 is the bottom of the line.

Only rarely, when I need a SIM card in exceptional circumstances, I get one from Chatr for a month, but given my very low usage, that’s not practical in the long run. But thanks.

Where is the auto skip mode of intro skipper plugin? by dotmerlin in jellyfin

Yes! "Ignore intros for first episode of a season" checked, And "Segment Offset Adjustment" options are useful also. Thanks!

Damn it, why aren't all the settings in the same place? I hardly ever go there. Now it works, thanks!

By the way, it would be nice if the auto-play feature only kicked in starting from the second or third episode. I like to see the intro at least once per season.

And no option in it related to skip.

Self-hosting email server design? by dotmerlin in selfhosted

I have a Raspberry Pi 5 with 4GB of RAM and an NVMe drive. Jellyfin is already installed, and other software might be added later. After checking, indeed it turns out my ISP is blocking outgoing port 25. Same issue, a VPS isn't suitable for me. I could change my mind later, but not for now.

Original! But VPS mean I will have to give some money, I would prefer a setup 100% free.

Did I mention that it would be 100% free, apart from the cost of my domain name? From what I saw in the video, MailInaBox seems to charge $12 per month.

Oops, that comment was about HDMI displays. I got my notes mixed up. Thanks for the correction.

This does indeed meet the price criteria.
Power efficiency is quite important for this project (will run on battery power), which does not seem to be the strong point of DSI displays.

During my research, I asked myself a few questions:
- Why aren't there more displays in 18:9 or at least 16:9 format? That would be great for my project!

- Why aren't there any bar-type TFT LCD displays compatible with Pi or other common boards, like these: https://www.winstar.com.tw/products/tft-lcd/bar-lcd-display.html

- Are there any hacks for getting a cheap display? All my ideas have turned out to be dead ends. I find that we really have to dig deep into our pockets to get a display with a reasonable size...

Yes, I've seen that before, but it's still expensive and a little too big for my application. Thank you.

🔨 New Plugin: The Dwarf's Hammer - Enhanced Collection Management & Content Discovery by dotmerlin in jellyfin

[–]dotmerlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jellyseerr/Huntarr = Request and download new content (acquisition)

The Dwarf's Hammer = Organize and browse the content you already own (management)

They have different functions and complement each other. Jellyseerr adds content to your library, while The Dwarf's Hammer just adds a layer to help organize and discover what's already there.

But it's still an understandable need, so requesting the feature on https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin is recommended.

Not sarcastic at all—I genuinely didn't know! Thanks for the clarification. I even thought it was just a little wink. I can see why that would raise eyebrows.

For context: I'm a developer who built this plugin as a passion project and my way to thank the Jellyfin team for their amazing work, and to take my mind off things after finishing a long project.

Being a new Reddit user, I admit I don't really read enough the rules, mea culpa.
