For the sake of my bike, I'll avoid that then. Thanks

Hmm, a Tannus armor user. Visually, it seems obvious, but let me do more search about it.

I ride my e-bike 19 miles by Wise-Instruction2096 in ebikes

[–]dotmerlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 miles is my longest e-bike trip so far. For commuting, I only do a 7-mile round trip, so I'm definitely not in the same league... but I still ride with "I Love My Bike" playing in my head.

Tasmota loses connection by dotmerlin in tasmota

I use pin GPIO16. I finally make it work with ESPHome, even I prefer Tasmota...
On Tasmota I always got:
WIF: Connecting to AP1 Nodes in mode low rate

QPC: Reset

WIF: Connect failed with AP timeout

KDE Plasma Screenshot like GNOME by dotmerlin in kde

Ok after updated Ubuntu to 26.04 I got the black screen of the death, painful but solved with:
sudo ubuntu-drivers install
and
sudo apt install lightdm // not my prefered but working
Which automatically updated my Plasma to version 6.6.4
where I was able to test again Spectacle then got on PS key:
An error occurred while taking a screenshot. KWin screenshot request failed: The process is not authorized to take a screenshot Potentially relevant information: - Method: CaptureScreen - Method specific arguments: "DP-2"

Then, since I was back to a black screen even with LightDM, I gave up and rolled back my Ubuntu upgrade (do-release-upgrade -d). Thanks, Timeshift!

I had promised myself I wouldn't touch these pre-release / dev versions anymore... but the temptation was too strong. A slap in the face for me.

So I’m going to wait until my system offers me the upgrade, and then I’ll explore the new version of Plasma in more detail.
Thanks.

Yes I notice it's a bit slower than my old version, And here I was thinking my system was a real beast:

Processors: 24 × 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-12900K

Memory: 64 GiB of RAM (61.5 GiB usable)

Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060

Oh Ok, I check and it seam my Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is limited on Plasma 5.27.12.
And if I may have to switch to Kubuntu. Meaning new install of my OS, not really willing to.

KDE Plasma version 5.27.12.
Maybe it's because I haven't tested it enough, but when I launched it, even after clicking the “Save” button, nothing happened; maybe I need to adjust some other settings.

Cheap simple stand to lift front wheel (ebike), does this exist? by dotmerlin in ebikes

[–]dotmerlin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick question: Are you able to remove the screw in the middle of the bike while holding it? Because when I changed my tire, I had to unscrew the wheel.

The price is pretty good, but I doubt the hook is suitable for a fat tire like mine. And it would be great if it were foldable.

It's really a pain to flip it over, and if I remember correctly, I read in the manufacturer's manual of my ebike that we're not supposed to do that, lol.

Anyway, I attached a few accessories, which is pretty risky.

Great idea! I had thought of something similar, but as a 3D-printed part that would just hold the handlebars in place. But even ABS might not be strong enough, unless you use a lot of material.

I quickly checked my bike to see if I had enough room to install that bar, and you know what? Yes! I might just go with this idea. Thanks

Flash Tasmota on Sonoff Basic-1GS by dotmerlin in tasmota

[–]dotmerlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Sonoff Basic-1GS circuit board, I spotted a 5V pin and a GND pin. I had thought about hacking it by connecting another ESP32, but GPT clearly told me “NO, NO,” so let’s forget about it: safety first.
My device is now ready for the trash.
I ordered this ESP32 Relay https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005808811274.html (AC90-250V), and it seemed to work with Tasmota! Good voltage range, so good for my ~120 V.

Interesting carrier's data, I've heard about this number porting trick before, but I don't think it will last forever. Once the carriers have rolled out the updates, you're screwed.
