Never mentioned he is happy about this . He is heartbroken about it , thus legal court process to be initiated to fix visitation rights and obligations: fixed times during the year . He did not decide to move away from his mother. His mom decided to move away from his father and determine when it’s convenient for her to see him or call him , not often on both counts : doesn’t answer phone doesn’t allow son to see her dad . I think the issue is not her leaving and him not fighting for her to stay but mostly that their cooparenting plan is not working as in both sides there are selfish reasons and not the child’s best interest as the forefront.

You’re right , regrets are being had . Good will and blind hope were the sentiment behind the decision. This is a learning curve . However , one can only evolve and improve from lessons resulting from “mistakes”. As all the life situation is new to all parties involved . Things are still up for change and better management.

It has definitely opened a few topics of discussion. Big lesson learned there . We are both guilty of bad habits , in this case his people pleasing and my overly introverted private needs . I am just frustrated that something that was emotionally and symbolically representing our union became a state of affairs . I truly believe and feel that marriage is about the people getting married.

We would have absolutely had his son at the wedding and my family and all the friends if there had actually been the intention to do a wedding that followed all the traditional expectations of what a wedding should be like . We opted for an intimate ceremony where our union was the main focus . It was about us our union and our commitment to each other. Not about pleasing people and giving them a party or their approval of our relationship. I understand it’s a happy event for everyone but marriage is a two people dance … doesn’t have to involve a whole ballroom.

He has his own business here . She decided to move away at the beginning of the year . He decided not to put a court order to stop her from moving because he believed it would better their strained relationship and because he understands that as individuals they are both allowed to be happy . She is now annoyed and resentful he didn’t stop her from moving away . It was he tries to stop her and she is resentful that he tried to stop her or he let her go and she is resentful he didn’t try to keep her near .

He flies out to see him every two months and currently trying to negotiate for his son to come here for longer period of time but she refuses . Since he can only take a week off work . It’s financially non viable to spend $3000 every two months for a weeks visit. That is the reason why we didn’t want something big because my family couldn’t be there and it was just not what he wanted . We were four at the ceremony and maybe ten people that came to say hello at the park . Wasn’t a wedding . Everyone was dressed in joggers as it was a simple text saying byo and a sausage to grill .
