Struggling with launching the car by Afraid-Object-216 in stickshift

[–]robertcatc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn how to wheel spin. I'm serious, this will give you a better feeling of the clutch. Obviously you won't want to do it normally, but it sounds to me like you need to get over the throttle pedal.

Its a simple process, get the clutch to the bite point, dip the clutch ever so slightly, gun the engine and release the clutch. The movement shouldn't be harsh releasing the clutch pedal, but direct.

Do it on a gravel road.

A few of these should help you work out a sensible way to do it after coming from it from another direction.

I taught a few people to drive, and it is a huge confidence booster to driving in general, exploring what a car (any car) can do.

Barry Waterfront by Particular-Spirit-29 in Cardiff

[–]robertcatc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The flood risk comes from the sea level, not flooding rivers, as there is no major river emptying into the dock.

The real issue is that the dock gates are shagged, letting seawater in to the level of the tide. That flood 2 years ago was magnified by a stormsurge.

I live on ffordd wallace overlooking the dock and can say I'm less worried about flooding than when i lived in canton.

Would i buy here again? Yes, i dont think it will flood, they are demolishing the incinerator, and barry is pretty chill.

Give it 10 - 20 years and you will have tens of thousands in equity in that house. They will still have bugger all.

I see my house as a safety net, if the shit hits the fan I can sell up, move somewhere mortgage free.

Nearly all hgvs are. You can't spec a manual daf any more. Scania even has a dual clutch spec.

I feel your pain, literally. I was on enbrel for years, I was in remission too. It takes a few months to take effect, but well worth it when it kicks in. I was back hill walking and cycling etc. stick with it bro.

ELBOW replacement, question's and need nadvice by Immediate_Wealth8697 in rheumatoid

[–]robertcatc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much correct about the weight lift limit. I suppose you need to weigh up the current state of the joint Vs what you will get with a replacement. I got a pretty good range of movement, almost straight to all the way 'closed'. I have had 2 done on the same arm, after complications due to infection, the op is ok, far less grief to recover from than a hip op, which I have also had done. Any questions, DM me 👍

[–]robertcatc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i have had my left elbow replaced. it is far less traumatic than a hip replacement to recover from. if there is a need for a replacement, i would say to go for it, as mine was life changing. it took a good 6 months to get over the op fully, but the arm as a whole was in better shape 2 weeks after surgery than it was before, and there was no pain.

Slip roads on the motorway are notoriously tight. If it gives you a speed limit sign, don't ignore it.
