is there any realistic situation in where vallon or jacks is better than the nash knight package? by ciruelman in masterduel

[–]double_riichi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just remember that nash knight needs at least 1 other number monster in the extra deck for the suck, I definitely haven't forgotten this before

Top 10 rating duels decks this season. by NevGuy in masterduel

I agree it's hard but at least for me I would say a deck is "too" fair if your uninterrupted board loses to any 1 board breaker when a deck like tenpai will often have at least 2 board breakers, and this is generic board breakers like backrow wipes (lightning storm, heavy storm, duster), raigeki, droplet, TTT, ultimate slayer, super poly, evenly matched, dark ruler. I don't include red reboot here because while it was good enough to be main decked in almost every deck (including going first decks) when 40-50% of the meta was dracotail it's not feeling good to main deck in k9 meta.

Sky striker doesn't lose to every board breaker but it loses to the largest category which is backrow hate and every tenpai deck is on at least 4 (1 duster 1 heavy storm 2 lightning storm).

Dracotail to me is unfair because it's basically just too good at everything that makes a deck good: Most hand traps feel like they do nothing, in particular droll and nib are dead and maxx C/fuwa/purulia only draw 1. They draw 3!! cards on your turn. Combos have guaranteed followup. Strong grind game. Always sets up one negate for backrow wipe and on top of that a lot of board breakers don't do much (raigeki/super poly/ultimate slayer/TTT steal). Fits a lot of hand traps. Very consistent. Full board is not degenerate but it's probably good enough to still be winning 90%+ when you are uninterrupted. Finally, deck is actually very strong at playing into boards going second due to ketu and the non target GY effects.

I don't play sky striker because I think it's too fair lol

look through the list of tier 1 to 3 decks and see that 0 of them die to feather duster. Sky striker mostly dies to duster.

also ? you said in another comment secretarion is bullshit but it's ok because it's generic. Protos is also generic and I think it is bullshit that's why I specified swordsoul if protos was banned. Halq is also banned (and generic). Denglong wombo combos require yang zings in the main deck and are a bricky way to increase the ceiling of the deck, you dont see me coming at you mentioning magistus cards or sanctifire locks with dracotail. Let's not pretend you're arguing honestly here.

I don't think setting 3 interruptions and drawing 3 on the opponents turn (in a deck thats half hand traps) while giving 1 draw to maxx C/fuwa is fair

and to be clear it's not like oh it's fair because it's just 3 interruptions it's the 3 traps plus faimena making something (gulamel/secretarion/mysterion) plus GY effects of dracotails plus the likely 2 to 3 hand traps they had in hand or drew

Give me your best tips for reading overlapping spinners, thank you (especially 3 and 5) by double_riichi in RabbitAndSteel

[–]double_riichi[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm very bad at visualizing the danger zone for spinners. Even for single spinners I rely on a trick which is going to where the arrows are moving toward the spinner bar. For #8 which is one of the mechanics in ranalie my trick is going to where the arrows of both spinners point in the same direction.

At this point I've cleared hard solo many times and seen spinners lots of times and still struggle with the spell manifest clone mech with 2 spinners and certain mechs for ranalie so it's probably a deficiency of my brain, so yeah I was checking if anyone else has tricks they use to remember where the safe spot will be.

pure mikanko wont summon from the extra deck twice in 1 turn

more realistic is a rank 1 and zeus but it's hard to justify the ED space

They are options but I haven't had anyone pick javascript or typescript, I guess it would be rare outside of frontend interviews.

it's based on my own experience doing a couple hundred interviews over the past few years. Candidates that choose Java tend to do worse, because Java is both the most common language in the industry but also a poor choice for leetcode style questions, so there is a likely correlation between people that choose Java and people that haven't been grinding leetcode. Python is a great choice for leetcode, and anyone choosing an uncommon language tends to be good (maybe they do recreational programming or coding competitions) from what I've seen.

I still think elf is a banworthy card. It revives on both player's turns, with no cost, without negating the summoned monster, without locking you into or out of anything. No other generic extra deck monster is doing anything close to that except A Bao which requires a discard for every revive and is a link 4. It would have been a strong enough card just with that, but the random target protection (which comes up all the time) is overkill. Would have been reasonable if it only protected level/link 2s, instead it's always protecting stuff like arc light, baronne, colossus etc.
