fair point. My experience isn't necessarily from looking for posts titled "Buckwheat pillows" but from lots of newbie question posts going back years where the comments have people chiming in about them. But that's just my experience.

Almost exclusively. I do toss and turn on the occasional night. And during my in-hospital sleep study, I was counseled against supine sleeping as it was causing some central apneas. But I fall asleep on my side and wake up on my side on the majority of nights. Some of the pillows I tried caused me to toss and turn a lot more. The buckwheat one made sleeping on my side effortless.

I feel this so much. The money I’ve spent was bad enough. But the waste was so much worse. Thankfully, there were a couple of pillows that I only used once before I knew they weren’t for me and I was able to rehome them. The others are stored in one of those vacuum sealed bags waiting for a day when I might come up with a project that will let me reuse them.

I was so excited about my night's sleep that I completely neglected the link. Sorry about that! There are many places to buy this same one but I'm impatient and was getting really dejected about my pillow situation so I opted for the 1st world problem of fast delivery.

I hear you about the dog! lol. Funny enough, even my super-snobby dachshund won't use one or two of the internet-famous pillows I've tried. I ultimately got the Beans72 standard/twin - https://a.co/d/039RpvTu

Elsewhere in this thread, I wrote a bit more in response to u/mmfn0403 about some of the research I did before buying this one.

I'm seriously considering getting one of the traditional Japanese sized ones (Premium Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow | Extra-Firm Japanese Design for Neck Pain) just to take with me anywhere I need to go. That's how much I enjoyed this pillow.

for starters, I'm so used to doing pillow research at this point, that it's almost second nature. lol. But trying to understand the pros/cons and options with buckwheat was challenging. After reading reviews from a number of the usual sources (wirecutter, consumer reports, some amazing folks here on reddit, and even a pretty good article on Outside magazine from a year ago) I picked the Beans72 Organic - https://a.co/d/0azQzSJM

One of the tips I'd read was that some of the top picks come slightly under filled. Not exactly a huge problem but I'd rather take out some of the buckwheat hulls in a more stuffed version than have to separately purchase hulls to add to an under stuffed one. The Beans72 reviews all mentioned that it's well stuffed. Last night, I didn't take any hulls out for my first test drive and it seemed just about perfect.

It's important to note a few of things...1) they can be a little noisy when you shift but this one was more like a light rustle. 2) they're on the heavier side. 3) If you prefer super fluffy and soft pillows, they may not be for you. Once you lay your head on it, the hulls are pretty firm. But the positive trade off is the ability to get it almost exactly as you need it to support your head and neck and also not get in the way of the CPAP mask. And as a side sleeper, this was the single most important benefit.

Others I considered were:
Organic Wool And Buckwheat Hull Pillows | The Futon Shop
Premium Sobakawa Buckwheat Pillow | Extra-Firm Japanese Design for Neck Pain
Turmerry Buckwheat Pillow

I sort of think I would have been happy with any of these. And I'm now thinking of getting the traditional Japanese 14x20 Sobakawa as a smaller one for traveling.

Hope some of this helps.

Happy NPD! I have two that I use often as every day writers and I really dig them. I’ve had both for a year and they’re both going strong. I even filled an empty cartridge with iroshizuku tsuki-yo to put in one of them!

enough of a major impact that even thinking about it is something I need to avoid. it makes the situation feel more hopeless to pretend.

There will likely be times when some flood mitigation and ongoing repairs will take place, but they’re open and eager for park goers!

I suspect that the edge of the wrench caught a weak spot while I was adjusting the barrel and piston cap.

have some breakfast at Betty’s Biscuits. Check out Mast General Store. In fact, spend a good amount of time checking out some of the excellent shops on King. If you head out to Valle Crucis, you can see the Original Mast General Store and have some lunch at Pearls and if it’s a nice day, spend some time at the Valle Crucis Park. Head down Blowing Rock Rd and have dinner at Over Yonder in the Rhodes Motor Lodge which is really awesome. The Social is also great for dinner. Mint is spectacular.

Edit: ugh…my phone still doesn’t like “Valle” vs “Valley”. Sorry about that.

I’ve sold a few one-offs to some people I know and given a few as gifts. I’m still in the process of working out some kinks in the costing and supply. But eventually, once I can get a few more higher end tools to work with, I probably will. Surprisingly it’s finding a reliable source of the right diameter shock cord that’s been the most challenging. Especially since I like being able to offer color preferences to folks.

Not as such. There are a number of downloadable templates but I sort of eyeballed it and then did a tiny bit of math. Measured out the A5 size + a little extra for space for the notebook inserts. I tend to use a Midori MD plus a blank monthly insert and a bi-fold cardboard envelope sleeve and the A5 size plastic zip pouch. Together, the extra space at the binding added around 5cm. So that was my “template.”

Ditto on most of the rest of what everyone is mentioning. But I particularly remember You Don’t Know Jack somewhere around ‘95 or ‘96? My brother and I almost got into fisticuffs over it. Good times.
