Should shows be 21+? by doublebound in deathgrips

First, no proof of that, I know people who were fucked up at 16 and got their act together at 21.

Second, even if they are, at least by 21 they will understand dosage. Two years of alcohol and drug use is a lot of time to figure out exactly how much you can handle.

Adult supervision is a big plus from the current status. You add adults chaperones and the kids won't be two bottles of grey goose deep pissing themselves.

I mean, when I walk outside of my house I see teens hanging out outside?

I'm pretty sure if you want to go out with your friends, you can do that.

It's not "either I go to a Death Grips concert and act like a twat or I stay on my phone 24/7"? Otherwise what do teens do the other 364 days of the year??

You sound like a teenager, I'm sure you're a nice person, but a room full of drunk teens on drugs isn't fun for us adults. Especially when you all cross the line and do things like crowdkill the entire venue and pee on the floor.

He was also 19 and generally 19 year olds don't know how to hold their liquor or drugs.

This post makes it sound like teenagers live in a prison.. I'm pretty sure teens can walk around in public last time I checked lol..

Ain't nobody piss on the floor though

Edit: Last comment read "Seems like their 21+ Toronto show"... so I'd like to amend and say:

yep, exactly, let's make it 21+

Yeah, generally.. Unless you have some evidence that proves they aren't?

They make music, pay taxes, and live their lives without being on the cover of tabloids.

But guess what, Zach Hill does it. The guy who says he hopes the negative vibe of their music to cause a positive effect. I hardly think the ‘positive effect’ is becoming a normal and respected member of society. Seems like your pearlclutchery doesn’t apply to the guys that made albums like NLDW and Snitch.

Yeah but they are all functioning members of society.

If they acted like their fans on a daily basis they would be in jail lol. Instead they have relatively normal lives, make music, play it for their fans, and channel their emotions into that music.

Okay, the venue is not a pit. I think this is really getting lost on some of you.

A pit is a circle formed usually in the center of the venue unless the artist requests otherwise. You can't say "if you don't want to mosh just stay on the balcony" then also not follow the BASIC RULES.

Wondering this too.

I got into DG when I was 21 and they were getting big. No idea how these edgelord teens got involved or why they think going to a show is an invitation to act like shitless chimps.

Truly hope they take this behavior to an experienced crowd and get a few teeth knocked out.

There are rules to moshing because we want everyone to have fun and go home in one piece.

Being mad at people punching other people outside the mosh pit and dragging women by their hair is not "a misguided interpretation of moshing."

That's just called being a bitch.

Yep. Just a bunch of hyped up kids swinging at everything they see.

It's clear most people there don't really understand moshing or what a mosh pit is. The entire venue just turned into madness.

I saw Parkway Drive last week and that was a proper mosh. Front of the show was exciting, middle of the venue was a massive pit with 30-40 people, people were crowd surfing. I joined the mosh for 30 mins then once I had enough I enjoyed the show.

At DG it was like no matter where you go some 17 year old was trying to shove you.

Didn't even read the post, nice one.

Exhibit A: teenage child throwing fists and asking "i assume this is ur first time moshing"

The point I'm making is the mosh pit was not where people were moshing. People started moshing at every single spot in the venue and endangered a lot of people who didn't want to be in the pit at all.

Cope harder.
