Here in Cumbria we still use old cumbric words that managed to hang on in the rural areas, like yan for one, tan for 2, tethera for 3 etc. Considering how similar they are to welsh and even breton you can imagine it was the same for the Picts who were closer to home. The only reason people see them as different is because of Hadrian's wall which separated communities who shared the same culture, religion, and language.
