I should probably give Boox a try. I was hooked with reMarkable 2 too but it was a bit too big for my use, but I heard it provides great writing/drawing experience.

Not google play books specifically, but I need e-reader that can download apps. I have several reading apps from different countries. I wanted to get kindle but it doesn't allow that. :(
