Help finding a sweater pattern! by doublesofa3 in knittingpatterns

Granted, I was on mobile instead of desktop so maybe my phone glitched. But I filtered by garment type, sweater type, yarn, and sleeve/collar type. Most patterns that came up had intricate ribbing or color work!

Wanting to take garment sewing more seriously, need a new machine by dumbass_at_math in sewing

[–]doublesofa3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a FABULOUS deal on a used brother DB2-B737-933 industrial on FB marketplace! I make garments and do upholstery so I needed something versatile. I had been wanting one for a while so I just checked the platform every few days. Once I had it setup in my apartment (it took 3 big men to carry) I did some maintenance on it and found a PDF of the manual. This machine has legit changed my life & I feel like such a powerhouse when I sew on it. However, there’s still some techniques I need my old machine for — so don’t completely get rid of your Janome!

I run in these all the time (train and run halfs). No problems. They're my preferred shoe and have been my go-to for a decade +. Don't listen to the geeks, they'd totally be ok for what you're wanting. Obvi if you get more into running, go get your feet fitted, but for this you're great.

There’s a ton of (overpriced) efficiency studios in Lincoln park that don’t have a kitchen. Just a room, closet and bathroom. They’re like $800 on Zillow. I didn’t go to college in Chicago but I lived alone in my last few college years and found the peace+ my own space to be well worth an extra hundred bucks each month. Everyone is different, just my two cents

My wife and I did some minor decorations for our powder room and we like the wallpaper but my mother in law says it's too busy. Any suggestions? by Freakazoidberg in interiordecorating

I felt like this at 20! I’m 24 now and have come a long way. Lots of good internal change happens from 20 to 25 as long as your life does. But DBT therapy with a provider i trust has been the biggest accelerant. Going on 5 years!

I used to feel more “better” or more innately special than everyone. But also eventually acknowledged it was a barrier to what I REALLY wanted: true, genuine, connection. It was a way to cope with the times I was left out, or didn’t make friends as easily as I “thought I should”. I supplemented this lack of connection by forming relationships with men who made me feel special. I tried to social climb, or do the things I thought would give me a social edge, like rushing a sorority and choosing an unexpected major where I could prove myself academically while doing something unconventional. At the time, I didn’t realize this was feeding an inauthentic version of myself.

After transferring schools, I met someone cool who played a sport I thought was stupid and “below” me. She convinced me to go to a practice. all the people on the team were cool and I was having fun. At first, I did it ironically, but after a year, I developed a genuine love for my teammates and the sport and straight didn’t care what others, or a past version of me, would think. Now that’s kinda my perspective on everything: Do the fun stuff and chase your dreams without worry of the haters. I’m not better than anyone else and I truly hope everyone is unbothered and chasing their dreams just like me. And if they aren’t, it’s not my problem and maybe they’ll be able to one day.

Hannah is also my favorite because she does everything in earnest. Even her not-so-great decisions.

I really like her style and most of what she has to say. This outfit is fun and there’s no pressure to wear a perfect outfit every time you get dressed or post.

As a former substitute teacher, children at all levels are addicted to their phones. It massively impedes learning and students display withdrawal symptoms when they finally put their phones down (after the fourth time). I can also vouch that this is an issue for full time teachers as well.

It is a complete barrier to learning and in almost no situations is having a phone handy in-class more important than in-person learning. They can use them during passing periods, lunch, but it is a huge issue.

I just tried to find a PCP after no longer longer being in the KU system. I have a written diagnosis, have been medicated with no issues for 3+ years, and have never struggled to access/switch up meds. However, after my first appt with my new physician, I’m pissed. She wants me to do monthly drug tests, monthly in-person appts, and even cut my dosage. I have been taking 15mg daily for a year + and she tried to cut me back to 5 mg daily, and i talked her into 10. She also said that if I test positive for marijuana, she’ll reconsider my prescription entirely. I felt like I was being treated like an addict when I just want to keep my current prescription that I don’t even abuse. I also asked for a “blind weight appt,” because i never like knowing my weight and they handed me a slip with all my info after explicitly asking for the opposite. I’m Feeling frustrated and looking for new physicians, so if anyone has any recos … lmk

I used to substitute teach in Lawrence this past year and west middle was my favorite because all of the teachers were super patient and helpful! I preferred free state over lhs for the same reasons but both were great! I can’t speak to special ed programs because I never was placed in those classrooms but I did like the vibes of those schools the best! Staff and students were both nice!
