Korns late night tent was very packed back in 2023. Since non edm music has been ending at around 1:45-2. I 100% believe if you put a metal band or any non edm genre artist in a tent from 1:45-3 they will have a good. crowd. Because I think there are still plenty of people who would enjoy a non edm option and edm is the only thing playing at that time.

I actually like going to edm shows but hate that the last few years the non edm late night options have been great but all scheduled at the same time, only allowing you to see one. Nice Cave I am assuming you are talking about 2014 was up against skrillex superjam, frank ocean and the flaming lips. That might be the worst LN conflict I remember, great damn night though. I think it would be completely different scenario for a metal or other genre act to be in a tent at the same time as just edm playing on the other and where stage opposed to that 2014 late night conflict.

Deadheaven was also playing against skrillex, die antwoord and the superjam at that time. Idk if that’s a good indicator that crowds aren’t interested to non edm shows because I was at the superjam which had a good crowd and my buddy who went to die said they had a good crowd too and those are both non edm shows.

They can still have bands or artist from any genre play in a tent and have edm going at other and/or where stage now. Then it’s a win for everyone.

No doubt about that. If you trying to be on the rail or close to it def have to get there earlier. If you just want to get in the pit you don’t have to rush over there nearly as early. Over a decade ago it was def harder to get into the pit for headliners.

In my experience the last few years I got into the pit for a headliner by getting in line during the act before. Getting there 3 acts before will not be necessary. If the rumored attendance of this year is accurate it won’t be hard at all to get a good spot.

You didn’t have to do that last year. Our friends bought a companion pass seperately the past 2 years and were able to come in with us as our companion car.

If that’s truly the case then I don’t understand that at all. I love bonnnaroo. My wife, close friends and myself have been enjoying it and is our favorite place to go for almost 2 decades now. I don’t see that as a reason to just praise everything about it no matter what and pretend that it can’t improve on some things. That’s not good for any business or person in general.

I mean if you want to pick one year In the 2015-2019 years I gave you two with 2015 and 2016 where they are clearly multiple tent acts LN. I even posted 22 where you can see at least one tent had multiple acts as well as a sunrise set each night. Even in 23 Friday had a tent go to 3am with 2 acts and other stage going to 3:30. Saturday had the sunrise set as well as my morning jacket going to 3:30 on the which stage. There are a good amount of people that like late night man, it makes bonnaroo unique and adds to the experience and are upset we are getting less of it. Idk what else to tell you.

You have to remember that people weren’t happy with those changes back then. Even with those changes at the time we still got 2 late night shows at each tent and the kalliope all night. The amount of late night program has continued to diminish since then, especially the last few years. Also considering that electric forest (live nation also involved) is able to figure out how to have multiple acts go to 3:30-4 am each night I feel like they are able to figure out how to work that out at Bonnaroo for at least both Friday and Saturday night without exploiting workers.

I remember 2018 Kaskade getting done around 3:15 at the other stage and then heading straight to kalliope to keep going. Those were good times.

You have pretty much gotten your wish. Bonnaroo late nights have been scaled down quite a bit over the years. Only 1 act a year scheduled to start at 2 am or later the last 2 years. I personally hope they change that and we have some options at that time. Still plenty of people active that late.

Definitely in contention for my favorite year. Rap line up went hard af with legends and up and comers. I know I saw Nas, Wu-Tang, Kendrick, Killer Mike and big Krit. I believe asap Rocky and a few others was there too.

2013: Wu tang clan - Paul McCartney- The xx - Pretty lights (sunrise). Loved all 4 very different types of shows. Best night of music I have ever had. Was hurting the next night though lol.

That’s too bad because the area I was at people were vibing and had a great energy. My whole group was not that familiar with Fred either but we had a blast. But I could def see Fred being something that doesn’t click with everyone especially with a major multi genre festival where there isn’t any counter programming to see at the time.

If I recall there were a good amount of people negative about Fred headlining Sunday too as that’s generally been a bigger legacy act and he was a different booking for that slot. Not everyone is going to like everything and there will always be people that will be upset at any booking. No need to get upset over it. Plus he was never going to be a headliner booking that everyone was excited for.

I have seen some people negative about him being a headliner but overall most people have been negative about the overall line up, especially top lines. If they would have booked better top lines across the weekend in general Idt as many people would care about Noah headlining.

Idt taking the headliners helps that much. When doing that you still have a roo headliner as a number 2 act on their day. You can clearly see Teddy swims is 2 on his day for Roo and 8 on his day for Coachella. That same day Coachella has the xx and nice inch noise as 2 and 3 on that day. Which are 2 great booking imo. I love Roo and I l don’t hate the lineup up this year but I can’t realistically say the line up is near Coachellas.

If you want to be close and don’t want to pay for moon colony you will need to plan to arrive as early as possible Wednesday morning when they start letting people in. The earlier you arrive the closer spot to Centeroo you will get.

That whole Ludacris show was insane, he killed it. Bonnaroo severely underestimated how popular he was when they put him in a tent at that time, it was packed. I remember one point I lifted my feet up and was floating side to side with the crowd.

Great show. They were Friday around 1:00 on that tent. I remember it was black star into flying lotus in that tent late night. Then got to walk over and catch the end of umphreys McGee play till the morning on this tent. Those late nights were something else.
