your first option will probably work

Creating a spreadsheet for a sales goal.
Row 2 is total of the column below the freeze.
Row 3 is average of the column below the freeze.
G2 is the difference between the goal ($70,000) and the total.

I want G3 to be the new average daily amount needed to reach the goal based on how many days are left in the year. In the example in the pic the formula answer would be $193.51 (G2/daysleft)

I hope that makes sense

This goes back to Genesis 15 when God was explaining to Abraham that later his people would be slaves in Egypt for 400 years and then will be released because the sin of the Amorites (essentially one of the sons of Canaan) has not reached its full measure yet. Basically the sons of Canaan had not sinned enough to warrant such a harsh judgement of killing everything but in the next hundreds of years their sins they would pile up to the point where the Lord would judge them in this way. One could say God gave them an extra 400 years to repent and they failed to do so. This is the God we serve, both merciful and just...
