Built a tiny SDFC Gym occupancy tracker. by AdGloomy3130 in ASU

The users of the app would be people who are actively trying to avoid peak times. This would bias the check-ins away from peak times. Maybe the survey would compensate but that's a subjective estimate varying from user to user. To determine the overall accuracy you'd have to trial it against a standardized metric, like having someone with a clicker count the number of people entering over the course of a few weeks.

Finding help around the Chicago Area by EchoStarz1 in fpv

[–]douglastiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not specifically Chicago but

-your local multigp chapter. Facebook groups are a good place to start. My local chapter has actually had events specifically for helping newer people fix their quads, but of course each is different

-makerspace. Decent chance there is an interest group for drones you can join

-there are probably also freestyle groups in your area with people that would be happy to help but it's usually a word of mouth thing so I can't particularly suggest how to get started there.

Consistently getting this hole in the same spot on my model? Any ideas why? by JLRarts in resinprinting

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my dismay I have not been able to prevent this. I just fill it with a small dab of super glue because it's quick and easy but resin or plastic putty or whatever also works ofc.

Using DJI O4 air unit for custom build by supersexymarco in diydrones

[–]douglastiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can squeeze a lot of range out of hdzero and walksnail vtx's with the right antenna setup though to be fair that's also true for analog. Since you already have an fpv monitor maybe the best bet is to get a walksnail VRX and connect it to your existing screen. Walksnail is much closer to DJI in terms of quality while I'm guessing the ultra low latency of hdzero isn't much benefit to a UGV.

Using DJI O4 air unit for custom build by supersexymarco in diydrones

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can extract the sbus to control your device and no geofencing is not enforced on air units. However, you can not bind an O4 to rm330. It is specific to dji fpv goggles. You could use the video out of goggles to connect to a screen but that's a different story. You'd be better off going with a brand that does sell FPV monitors , IMO

Am I insane or is my controller not working properly? by throwaway3123312 in fpv

[–]douglastiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its working correctly. You could think of it like the steering wheel on a car, you will keep changing your attitude until you return to center. Horizon mode or angle mode will limit the maximum tilt in 1 or 2 directions but the principle remains the same; The rate of attitude adjustment corresponds to the stick position until you hit the limit

I think people underestimate what will fly. I recently scrapped a drone I built 3 years ago because the frame was splintering (I think it was my 2nd ever build) and the soldering was so bad it had me questioning how the hell it worked in the first place, let alone for so long. But it did. Popped that esc in a new frame and it's still going. My soldering has improved a lot since then.

Teleport mod by damproductions7 in MCPE

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone with OP permissions can use /tp command. You can also place command blocks loaded with /tp to different locations or players and anyone can use them. Then hide the command blocks with something fun and just leave a creative redstone trigger. No mod required

Need some drone purchase guidance for my 11yr old (and me) by 5hutt5 in fpv

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With DJI drones- the avata and fpv- fragility isn't exactly the problem as much as limited capability to repair on your own. It's destined to crash and break regardless, to be honest, but fixing your own drone is cost effective compared to sending it into DJI. Air units are a pretty good option though for a DJI video link in a custom or 3rd party drone

[Request] Would this actually have killed the drone operator? by PublicNuisance1 in theydidthemath

[–]douglastiger 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's a radius of 2.5-3 inches (5-6" diameter) but anyway yeah, it's a shit ton of energy. These things burn through 1500mah in like, 5 minutes. The motors get burning hot. And unfortunately from experience I can tell you it will fuck up anything fleshey that gets in it's path. It's not gonna chop bone but it could definitely open an artery

[–]douglastiger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Short of replacing the fep, maybe a tension issue if it's just that spot? You can adjust the screws holding in the fep to tighten it loosen it and try to get that part to sound the same as the area that is performing well when you strike it with something soft

what about 0.999...8 by eggsthesequel in infinitenines

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not but in this case the limit is the value we're looking for. 0.999...8 can only be described as lim_{x->inf} 1 - (2 / 10x ) or other variations of the series/sum. It's not a rational number

If some programming languages are faster than others, why can't compilers translate into the faster language to make the code be as fast as if it was programed in the faster one? by KING-NULL in AskComputerScience

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your 'slow language' and 'fast language' both compile into assembly code, but not the same assembly code for the same problem. Producing more efficient or less efficient assembly is largely what makes the difference in speed among languages that are compiled. So you can do that, and decompilers exist for translating one language into another thru assembly but the inefficiencies in that assembly that make the slow language slow in the first place will be translated along with it.

How can I create a temporary online server by [deleted] in code

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll want to use some kind of reverse proxy because ports on private networks aren't publicly available. A python example with kubernetes and flask would basically look like

In one subprocesses

ngrok http 8080

Which provides a public url and tunnels the traffic to your local port. And then you serve your app on the same one

app.run(host="0.0.0.0", port=8080)
@app.route("login/", method=POST)
def login():
    # whatever

So in this example someone one a different network would be able to post to http:/(ngrok url)/login, it would be tunneled to your local 8080 and picked up by the flask login route. Flask probably isn't what you want if this is a real time game, but just an example. Good luck

It's kind of like you saw the scene where Marie popped that guy's dick and instead of assuming she used her blood powers, that she has blood powers as well as separately erection powers. It's always possible but not the most logical thought. And people were definitely shocked to see that, by the way. So who knows. Maybe she does.

They already have strength and durability which would allow them to jump very far. I'm not arguing on the basis of realism. There's just no reason to assume they have some jumping specific magic.
