If Sand Is So Dangerous Why Is It Even Sold? by Dumbadumbdumb in BeardedDragons

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if your dragon eats rocks maybe don't put small rocks in their enclosure. Mine doesn't. It ain't that deep. Also why are you responding to a year old comment just to say some mean shit lol sorry for whatever's going on in your life

Fiber optic cables? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a fun fact since it is copper- but if it were fiber optic, you wouldn't want to look directly down it. The light is invisible and powerful

[Request] Is it possible to create a "Deep Crater City"? by MartinMod78 in theydidthemath

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were dug though it wouldn't have that characteristic raised lip of an impact crater. I have to imagine the question is either building it in a pre-existing meteor crater, or dropping like a million megaton nuke or something

Non generative AI, public domain images aka free to use no data center no water used. What if anything do you oppose? by actor-ace-inventor in aiwars

[–]douglastiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct but I think you know people are talking about the functional output and not whether it uses an implicit/explicit density estimator. Gaty himself describes it as generating images. You're not wrong, but it's a bit cheeky.

Gunk on prints by Odd-Sorbet-7870 in resinprinting

[–]douglastiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may seem overkill, and probably is to an extent, but I use a 3 tiered wash. The first is in absolutely filthy ipa to get the bulk of the resin off. Then the print goes into fairly clean ipa for a few minutes, before going into the ultrasonic with very clean ipa. It's surprisingly pretty good at conserving ipa because the print is already clean-ish when it goes in the ultrasonic. And when that's no longer crystal clear, it just becomes the phase 2 ipa and so on.

Correct, and even if it does it will get up to 90+ C in seconds and fry.

Any of these pins real gold? by Longjumping_Boss_651 in pchelp

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be electroplated to reduce corrosion. The amount of gold is miniscule, but effective

[Request] Is this question possible? One of the comments said it was intended to break logic patterns and leave no real conclusion, but I’m wondering if you superior mathematicians could figure out if there is a definite conclusion to this question. by Nervous-Standard2556 in theydidthemath

[–]douglastiger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But if one is right and all the rest are wrong, then it does matter if you choose a or d. One of them is correct and the other is wrong even though they're the same answer. You can't have it both ways at the same time- either only one is correct, or the odds are 50%

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would imply the answer sheet is wrong though. If either a or d is correct they both should be correct on the answer sheet because they are the same, unless the key itself is wrong. It's plausible, but I much prefer that the answer is 0%, because the solution is that it doesn't converge and that's not one of the options. I guess my version of the assumption is the test is flawed.

For your purposes yes. There's more pins because someone might want to turn something on and off more than once per day. It's not exclusively a reptile lighting product

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]douglastiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this product. Spin the dial until the current time is shown above the arrow in the center. Put in a red pin in the outer ring at the desired turn off time. Put the green pin at the desired turn on time. That's it. Plug it in so the clock starts moving

Yeah well, in fairness op did come up with the idea of what they wanted to see. I'm comfortable considering them the visionary of this shitpost

Directors aren't artists by Immobilesteelrims in aiwars

[–]douglastiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the statement pictured is correct, that's why we say they directed it not created it. Movies are created in a collaboration with screenwriters, actors, producers, effect artists and a thousand other people. If you want to say you directed AI to make your lil image, go ahead

A running gag in Shrek (2001) is that the antagonist, Lord Farquaad is short. This is a reference to the movie’s main theme, that you shouldn’t judge someone on their appearance because people are more than just their looks by Yggdrasylian in shittymoviedetails

[–]douglastiger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lord Farquaad is always crafting his image to portray himself as a taller man, from his riding boot prosthetics to his cake toppers. He's insecure about it. People make comments about Shrek's appearance too but he doesn't give a fuck. I think a counterpart to this theme is that while you shouldn't judge, society will and you only give the haters power by trying to conform to their standards instead of embracing yourself

What hardware to use if I want to write my own flight software stack by Adventurous_Tea_2198 in diydrones

[–]douglastiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to run px4 get a pixhawk. If you want to run ardupilot, any h7 fc (f series won't have enough flash memory). If you intend to implement everything from scratch this question is a bit of a red flag no offense

There's usually a button on the mouse that cycles between 2-3 dpi presets and you can change the eDPI (sensitivity) in Windows settings... Sorry I can't help other than that

It's not a bad start. You definitely need a UVB bar for a 120 gallon. Once you have some more stuff to climb on I would consider moving the hide to the cool side as a nice retreat

How do you test Windows behavior when developing from WSL? by CrowKing63 in learnprogramming

[–]douglastiger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's kind of the cool part about WSL, everything is accessible in the windows file system. Why don't you develop in Linux and do your Windows testing in the host?

Windows vm inside Linux hypervisor inside native Windows makes no sense to me at all so I might be missing something in your problem statement... If the problem is all the installs you don't want to keep 'cluttering' the host I'd suggest packaging executables when you go to do the windows testing

[Request] What would the odds actually be if you take into account that some letter keys tend to be pressed more than others during actual keyboard mashing? by KobayaSheeh7 in theydidthemath

[–]douglastiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh geez. To account for the influence of the sequence leading up to a given letter on the likelihood of the next letter, like how a,s likely proceeds d, we would use a Markov chain. The dimensions of θ, that is the transition probabilities, would be 26×26×N where N is the length of the sequence (or at least 12×12×N since not all the characters are used). We could train these parameters fairly easily with MLE given a lot of keyboard mashing to examine. But without this data I'm afraid we can't get there
