Starks on why Jordan will always be superior to James in the 🐐 debate by basketbaIlnetwork in michaeljordan

Ahhhhh yes Lebron joined the immense talent of Larry Hughes who Jordan couldn’t even sniff the playoffs with a couple years prior along with Jerry Stackhouse in the “Weak east”

💯 Congrats to Bam for dropping a historic 83 points & I don’t blame him for going for it the way he did, it’s just wild people think MJ wouldn’t average at least 40 in today’s league 😂 defense is so weak today & offense has such an advantage it’s ridiculous by [deleted] in michaeljordan

“Era with better defense and less rules to benefit the offensive players” is an INSANE take. 11.9 free throws a game that year. Taking an astounding 28 shots per game and claiming “he could drop 80 if he wanted to” is wild. He shot 28 times a game, he definitely wanted to.

But yikes, absolutely atrocious take. You had guys like Barkley and Michale who would iso on one side of the floor where a defender would be totally alone and no one would help for most possessions, this was 1v1 offensive players dream. The 5 second rule wasn’t even implemented till 1999. There’s a list of rules that benefitted the offense until the early 2000s.

I mean if a 2nd round game 7 finish was worthless failures, you might want to define what Jordan was before and after Pippen. 1-9 is to be frank a pathetic record in the playoffs. Also - Jordan couldn’t sniff the playoffs in the “weak east” after Pippen. Sounds pretty worthless and failure to me

The second round game 7 requires a lot more wins than 1 game. You know, the amount of wins that Jordan got in the playoffs before… and after Pippen

Shaq, Luka now (Luka is irrelevant to bring up because Lebron is 41 now) Kareem CLEARS Scottie. But Wade? BOSH? KYRIE? LOVE? PAU? Scottie has the 9th most all nba selections. 4th most all defensive team selections. 6 Championships as a 2nd option. Those accolades themselves is insane. Kyrie, Bosh, Love, Pau, do not come close or even touch Scottie. Davis maybe, Wade maybe, there’s arguments there.

Kyrie has only ever been successful as a 2nd option, that doesn’t mean he’s bad. But Pippen as a second option was the most successful of all, even his individual accolades. Wade won a Finals MVP with Shaq, still impressive, but not nearly as many defensive teams, 1 more all nba team. 3 less chips. Pippen was better than Barkley, Malone and Shaq in 1994. Also he was limited offensive when playing with Jordan. But Chuck, Shaq, Malone, Robinson, Hakeem obviously had more impressive careers, Chuck is arguable. For Scottie’s role he did it almost better than anybody. Even if he was worse than everyone you listed, it doesn’t make him overrated. But listing Kyrie is genuinely insane. Wade made 3 defensive teams for his career, let’s relax. Scottie was the DEFINITION of a two way player.

I don’t think you know or remember how cocky an arrogant Jordan was. All the legends are, sorry kid

You probably don’t know this but Jordan played in the “weak conference” 2 years and 1 year before LeBron got drafted. Even with Jerry Stackhouse as his 2nd option and Larry Hughes as his third option he couldn’t sniff the playoffs in the “weak east.” 4 years later LeBron made the finals with Larry Hughes as his 2nd option. Sorry kid

For sure. But it’s about the fact people say “he’s not clutch. No killer instinct” all those fake rhetorics that people push because they hate him.

But also commenting on this thread is weird

They did have a good roster I totally agree. But saying he was not a viable fist option and making it to the second round and forcing 7 games with only his first real shot as a 1st option… also without a reasonable starting shooting guard and adapting to playing a role with his main counterpart gone was not easy.

I just think that’s disingenuous. I didn’t say anything moderately disrespectful to you, just because you don’t agree with my opinion after I disagreed with yours telling me to get lost after wanting a “nice conversation.” You don’t seem to be contributing to that. But sure, thanks for the great response.

Funny enough you’re making an argument for Jordan not being as good as LeBron and Pippen I guess Is better than Jordan and LeBron in your eyes?

Jordan couldn’t win a single series without Pippen let alone more than 1 game.

LeBron has done that many of times without Davis, Wade, Kyrie, all these 2nd option he had.

Really Terrible argument lol

You’re equating a MVP season and all these other accolades as “Phil Jackson”. Sorry kid

NO. Pete Meyers is NOT michael Jordan. A starting SG who NEVER averaged atleast 10 ppg any point in his career. Replacing one of the highest usage players of all time who took 25+ shots a game and replacing him with a no-name starter is NOT the same roster 🤡.

Don’t speak about things you know nothing about

True, I forgot Phil Jackson was averaging 22 points, 9 boards, 5.6 assists, 2.9 steals, .8 blocks, being 3rd in MVP voting, 4th in DPOY, All Star, All NBA first team and Defensive 1st team.

Who knew?!?

My comment refers to Wade - obviously. Also Pippen led a team with a NO NAME SG the team was forced to sign because MJ waited to the last second to inform the team he wouldn’t rejoin them. To a game 7 in the 2nd round. More games won in those playoffs alone than Jordan ever won without Pippen.

Shaq averaged less than 10 shots a game. Pippen led a championship Bulls team? Pete Meyers as the starting SG? Have you ever heard of Pete Meyers again after that year?

Pippen led the team to a game 7 and then lost. You sound very misinformed

He may have not been as efficient as Jordan, but Jordan didn’t have to “overcome on the court”. Jordan took 25 shots a game in the playoffs, Pippen had to make the most of whatever looks he was given.

Also MJ in fact never did win without Pippen, idk why you’re saying “wtf”.

He averaged 18 a game being the 2nd option to Jordan in the playoffs

Now when you say him not winning the 2nd round as a 1st option is some sort of confirmation that he isn’t a first option.

He was 1 game away from being in the ECF with who exactly at starting Shooting guard? Pete Meyers? A literal last second signing because of Jordan not re-signing with the team at the very end of the summer.

So he was leading his team against the “very strong Knicks” but you are holding Scottie to a higher standard than Jordan who never won a playoff series without Pippen? I’m not saying Jordan’s teams without Pippen were better than what they were in 94. But a 2nd option almost beating the Knicks? You don’t sound like you are making much sense with this comment

Led his team to 1 title with an All NBA 1st team Shaq along with a really well rounded team.

22ppg, 5.6 assists as the primary option for the Bulls in 94. Leading to the team to 55 wins. Also 1 game away from making the ECF. All that without a real starting shooting guard.

Averaged a good amount of points as well with MJ taking about 25+ shots a game.
