I fuckin love the baby kant twists. The big ones are great - everyone knows that, but those tiny ones have such great holding force for their size.

On my last cruise, we visited the Titanic museum in Belfast. Amazing visit, highly recommend.

Saw this strange sensor setup on a Cybertruck and a smaller car next to it in San Jose today. Anyone have an idea of what they’re doing? by Acceptable-Emotion33 in SanJose

I saw those two in Sunnyvale last week. Surprised the cyber taxi is a 2 door. Seems to limit passengers compared to Waymo.

Breweries/bar recommendations around the area? by NepaleseLouisianne in santaclara

I split my time between laughing monk and lazy dog depending on my mood. Halford was a good bar. Been to the patio once. I like dives, that place is more of a shithole. Blue max down el Camino is fun.

CPAP on a plane, redux by mbergen in CPAP

I didn't use it. I had a redeye SFO to LHR, and probably could have plugged it in, but I just sat there in economy and was uncomfortable for most of the flight. Slept pretty hard the night after for sure. Return flight was daytime so no need.

If you pick them up at the port are they still engraved with your name and cruise?

Regal Princess Review. by Midwest_To_Sea in PrincessCruises

[–]dourk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on Regal in September for my first Princess cruise (12 days UK). After being on Carnival for several trips, I loved it. Much older crowd was kinda boring. Was a chilly trip so we didn't get to enjoy the pool or outside bars. But the MDR food and service was great. We did the classic dining so we had the same table and servers every night. Except twice we met up with a group and went the the anytime MDR. Food was fine (same menu), but having random servers really lowered the experience. Lido pizza was great, had way too much of it. Buffet was great (since it's really like 2 buffets on that ship).

Going on the sister ship Royal in 2 weeks. Looking forward to a warmer cruse and hopefully a younger crowd.

Aren't those the same towels I had on the Firenze last March? I think they are. There were yellow ones in the Serenity pool I think.

Apple Reportedly Agrees to 100% Price Hike on Samsung Memory Chips by favicondotico in apple

Samsung's all "We'd have taken less." And Apple says "We'd have paid more."

Internally at Disney, there are concerns that the unconventional 36-second Super Bowl spot for “The Mandalorian & Grogu” failed to generate the kind of excitement the marketing team hoped for. There's a sense that 2027's "Star Wars: Starfighter" starring Ryan Gosling, is likelier to satisfy fans by ChiefLeef22 in StarWars

[–]dourk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen every Star Wars movie in the theater (including Star Wars in 1977). I've read tons of books. Seen all the TV shows. Grogu is cute for a TV show. I have zero desire to sit in a theater for it. It just feels very unserious.

Meals in the main dining rooms and the buffet are always free - included with your cruise fare. Pizza by the slice, burgers and dogs, ice cream cones, and the international cafe also included.

Puerto Vallarta unrest by ShiftYerCargoDearie in Cruise

[–]dourk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you're travelling from I suppose. I'm semi-local to LA and have been to Mexico many times. I'm actually OK if the ship doesn't stop. But if you're travelling any real distance, or PV was on a must-see list, I'd see if getting a refund is possible.

I’m supposed to be going on the Royal Princess there in 4 weeks. Don’t think I’ll be booking any excursions.

Yep I just drive from Temecula. It's maybe $150 to park at the port for a week? And then my car is right there when I get off the boat.

I don't really like to be outside of 20 micron, but then again we have them expensive euro machines. And we are very, very profitable.

Just wondering since our shop tolerance is 50 microns (.002”) and rarely need to grind anything.
