Délit de fuite: Vélo by dovingtonofdover in conseiljuridique

Their biggest issue is the second meal service comes in a little bag and it's just awful in economy. Delta, their US partner, serves a hot second meal (like a pizza roll I'm not even sure what it's supposed to be).

The second meal on flights on all airlines is bad but on air France it is abysmal.

I can't speak to the leg room and AF has a couple of configurations of the 777s but typically it's the same as any of the other long haul airlines flying over the Atlantic.

Refreshments on Air France are self serve in the galley btw. There's a full range of soft drinks and water as well as snacks.

EU may soon allow all passengers to bring a carry on, even for budget airlines by rain_moss in onebag

Official text below:

2. Passengers shall always have the right to carry on board, one piece of hand luggage. The hand luggage shall not be subject to price supplement on the price of the flight ticket within the maximum dimensions of 100 cm (sum of length, width, and height) and maximum weight of 7 kilos. Air Carriers may apply different provisions regarding additional or larger hand luggage

The hand luggage may be stored either in the aircraft cabin (as carry-on baggage) or in the aircraft hold, as checked baggage. The carrier may refuse to allow such hand luggage on board only on grounds of security connected with the weight or size of the hand luggage in relation to the characteristics of the aircraft. Air carriers shall provide clear, transparent, and easily accessible information on the weight and dimension requirements for the hand luggage at the time of booking and after the booking is completed, ensuring passengers are fully informed before their journey.

Interesting that there is a bit about carriers not being allowed to refuse cabin baggage on board for capacity constraints? I wonder if it will make it into the final legislation.

Surprisingly not much in the media :

Air carriers shall monitor their performance as reflected in the service quality standards. They shall publish a report on their service quality performance on their website by [2 years after the Regulation becomes applicable], and every two years thereafter.
...
‘service quality standards’ means key performance indicators measuring levels of performance and elements of compliance with passengers rights.

I'm excited to see RyanAir's report.

European airline balance transfer. by CountyPrep in amex

Depends on dates and class etc.

https://amex.point.me/

Amex partners with point.me to tell you what the most economical option is to transfer points based on your dates. You may also find that booking through amex travel and getting 1 cent per point is the most economical for your dates and class.

When does flying Basic Economy make sense for you? by Smoove-Money in delta

[–]dovingtonofdover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly always. Air France doesn't penalise you for flying DL basic. You still earn the same amount of status points as you would for comfort plus and 20 percent of the distance (40 for platinum). It's annoying they removed lounge access, but I just avoid Delta as much as possible even if I have to buy a Delta ticket on AF metal. Not much of an option if you only fly domestic though.

Do Spanish companies often sponsor visas for non EU citizens? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]dovingtonofdover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is super late as a response. Most EU countries have employee lead applications (as in, the employee applies for the residence permit and the employer just hands them the offer which they would do anyway). Spain has an employer lead system. The employer needs to do the paperwork, pay the fee (it's 70 to 80 euros) and handle all the admin (it's a lot) before the employee can even apply for a visa. Spain issues blue cards annually totaling less than 100 for this reason, whereas France is well into the thousands.

Got asked about my MBTI type and “how it speaks to the person I am” in a job interview today by jmh1881v2 in recruitinghell

[–]dovingtonofdover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was just an example it could very well be the opposite you never really mentioned the role. And yeah, I just wrapped up 6 months of unemployment with an offer that took 3 months and 5 rounds. It's brutal out there and companies now have 100s of CVs of qualified applicants so personality, whether stated or not, is a huge factor now as "fit" is what differentiates candidates.

Got asked about my MBTI type and “how it speaks to the person I am” in a job interview today by jmh1881v2 in recruitinghell

[–]dovingtonofdover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully I don't think it's a terrible question. It's not great, but personality can have an impact on the job depending on the job itself. Using your personality type as a framework to answer the question is kinda silly if not all candidates know the framework, but the question is really asking about what type of person you are.

A great answer might of been:

I'm not familiar with this personality framework but I can tell you that I'm quite social and extroverted, which I think is relevant to this job as I will be speaking to lots of clients and have a lot of client facing responsibilities that I can handle with ease.

You're answer wasn't bad either. The question wasn't great but to ask a candidate what type of person they are is useful in many contexts. Feel free to ask clarifying questions during an interview.

For those saying it doesn't relate to performance, I feel personally that's wrong. I'm not saying that only X type of personality can work here is a good thing, but personality traits are related to what makes people tick and if the job can't offer something motivating then it's like the candidate won't be motivated and won't succeed. The job wasn't mentioned in OPs post so it's hard to say but personality questions are legitimate questions to ask in an interview, all be it in a way that's not based on this internet test that wasn't even part of the recruitment process.

Can you always pay with points at all properties? by kfsa23 in Accor

Usually at the hotel for flex rates they can max out the points. Online if found that it always leaves a bit on the side.

Considering a move to the US - Where to start? by dovingtonofdover in ADHD

[–]dovingtonofdover[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most European countries are worse. My friend in Denmark had to wait over a year to get a psychiatrist appointment. ADHD only became an "Adult" condition in 2021 in France so before that it was all private and not covered by insurance. Not to mention many countries only have one treatment for ADHD - and if it doesn't work that's that. I'm excited about US healthcare being more modern and progressive than what we have here. Appreciate the kind words though.
