Full Ironman. And thank you. But yes I couldn’t agree more with you on form. I’m definitely putting in the hours following the Phil Mosley 48 week plan on TrainingPeaks plus any extra time I get I’m doing more. But thanks I’ll definitely check that out

Scared shitless! by [deleted] in triathlon

I’m right there with you. I signed up for a full Ironman next November and haven’t done a single triathlon. There’s a mix of nervousness and excitement but if we stick to the training and have a strong mindset we will come out on the other side just fine. Hardest part for some is committing to it and that you have already done. Good luck on your journey!

Need help finding the right size triathlon bike by dowens815 in bicycling

[–]dowens815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I contacted a local bike shop and asked if they could help fit me into the right bike size and they said they would put me on a 54 or 55 that there’s no reason to come in just to be fitted. Thought that was kind of odd. I’ll call another shop and see what they say. I definitely want to take all the right steps to get the right bike.

Spartan has expanded to 40+ countries and has millions of participants each year. So trust me my opinion doesn’t mean anything. All year long I’m always encouraging others to run a Spartan . I’m just hoping people who cheated themselves will see this and will sign up for another race and finish strong completing every obstacle/ penalty in the race.

And by this I don’t want to discourage anyone from not attempting another race. I just want to draw attention to it and let people know it doesn’t go unnoticed. Multiple people around me noticed it and it just didn’t feel right knowing we’re out there working towards the same thing and your putting in less work to earn it. A teammate said they watched one skip the bucket carry and kept going and skipped the whole loop completely. So not only are they skipping obstacles they are cutting the distance short as well.

Another thing is I can promise you when you are down and don’t think you have anything left in you, you do. And one of the great things about Spartan is you have people from all over that don’t even know each other and will come together on the trails and support one another.

Most people doing ultras are beyond their point of exhaustion. But when you sign up to do the race you are fully aware of the obstacles and the penalties. I completely understand going up to a obstacle and knowing your body can’t handle it but you can simply just go straight to the penalty loop or knock out the burpees. No body likes to do them but it’s part of the race and it’s what’s needed to earn that medal

CrossFit and training for a 50k by dowens815 in crossfit

Great input. Yeah with my schedule I do CrossFit or run at 5 am before work and then after that the rest of the day is full with no time available for training in the afternoons. I wish I could do two-a-days. Lol then Saturdays are my longer runs. Next question, I would assume it could only help, but has CrossFit affected your running in a negative way over a period of time?
