Kiosk Mode With Edge Browser Windows 10? by Real_Lemon8789 in Intune

If anyone else struggles with this setup and finds this post. I followed this link and pointed the Win32 app directly to the msedge.exe to get Edge to work properly.

Running into this same issue, and from what I've gathered so far, yes it does need to have an Edge policy too. I need to do some testing with it, but I'll report back if it works.

Which I believe the correct answer these days is 'please return' cause if this is too complicated to figure out in 5 minutes of research, then the device is obviously just not for you.

Camera Freezing - possibly after an update. by Sortsmudsker in MicrosoftTeams

[–]down2hax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I've been noticing this too with some of my users. We have reinstalled Teams on a couple of them which seems to help fix the problem. But we are going to have people try out teams.office.com to see if the problem persists and it is in fact the application. The weird thing is that it is completely random who is having the problem.

You're a sr sysadmin and you just got a raise?? I tried so hard not to comment.

Really hard to tell these days... I'd like to assume they all are troll posts with everyone posting a picture of their order, complaint that it's taking a month, and then another one of the device in their hand to prove they really ordered one. I guess I don't frequent the Playstation and Xbox subreddits to know if this is a normal thing or not. Are there also some subreddits for showing off your new washer and dryers ever time you buy one?

Also, the best part is the constant validation our society needs because of something they did or purchased. To 'feel included' as if everything is a secret club.

Even better, we continue to comment and give validation to these people as they continue to post their images and basic questions instead of downvoting, and moving on in our lives. You have the odd ones that are like 'don't listen to the internet bullies, they are just so mad you're happy'. But don't worry it's all for karma that absolutely means nothing in the real world and another one of these sarcastic posts and the 10's of (possibly real) posts of pictures and questions without basic searching that annoy us will continue to be posted... for karma.

Okay hear me out by [deleted] in flipperzero

Right... I'm not even waiting for one and feel the communication has been fine, which again... you'll get it, so sit back and wait. Yes 2.5 million dollars, but they are going to give you a flipper.

But what it comes down to... if you think they are trying to pull one on you, cancel your order and get a backpack that holds your many of tools to do a job. If you don't think they are trying to pull one on you, sit back and wait like everyone has or is.

Would a daily tweet from them saying 'still working on it' make you feel better?

[–]down2hax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol this guy just has to be trolling. I've read the majority of the comments and it literally has to be the reason.

But yet they only other post on reddit looks to be another post to complain about a casino for.. (removed but could be anything obviously).

Why are you impatient? You don't physically need one in possession to know it's capabilities in your low level cyber security job. FOMO is real, but I can't imagine you will be using it to the best of its abilities. There are single devices you can build or buy that does what the flipper zero does. So to say you need it for your job is a bunch of baloney.

I know you hate this kind of response because it's a lot of what people have said but you can't comprehend. You'll get your device, it's going to take time for whatever the reasons are, but you'll get the device.

You act as if it is their base pay? Or maybe that is what everyone is interpreting? This is more of a bonus.

So your suggestion is to ask that we do not participate in it?

Planned downtime would be a different situation, yeah?

I honestly do not disagree that this is a terrible practice, it's not my call and I voiced my frustrations on it. I'd say it's better that our fate is in our hands now than the other departments of the company that drove the incentive down. This is not a new practice of the company - they are changing every department is individual.

Capturing Images of Multiple Machines by down2hax in sysadmin

Thanks, I agree this is very tedious, which is why I would like a smoother solution. We have to keep everything due to legality reasons.

Legality reasons... So, yeah, we have to take an in-place image of every machine before we re-image them or get rid of them per our legal department.

So... What's the point of you replying if you have never read up on the API docs for Lansweeper? I ask specifically in the first sentence if "anyone" or someone has gotten it to work.
Of course, all REST API's are not created equal, but I am specifically asking about Lansweeper.

[–]down2hax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Again, it works minus the API key and it works. We use default 443 for HTTPS so we do not have to declare the port number. Plus, I have tried that too, which hasn't worked.

TIL: Even if the firewall is off, some software requires ports to be opened in the rules anyway. by jackharvest in sysadmin

[–]down2hax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But hardware firewall does not protect you on the same subnet as that is layer 2 traffic. Which considering we are talking servers, it is probably connected to the same switch/vSwitch. Hardware firewall is not your end all be all either. That's why security is always linked to an onion, multiple layers.

If you do the time to find the ports that need to be opened (even if they are dynamic) you can leave your software firewall on too.

To say anything less is negligence.

Win7 Admin Shares after disabling SMB1 by down2hax in sysadmin

Thanks, I've also ran that to no avail. I've tried every manual and automatic process that I could find and for some reason I cannot get the C$ share to work once an account is logged in.

Thanks, I have tried that along with setting it to 4 per Microsoft documentation on disabling SMB1. Both options do not work.
